POWER STANDARDS:
CONNECTING STANDARDS:
Grade 3: “Computer Science is something I can do and enjoy.”
Goals
Authentic block-coding experiences, including predicting what the character will do when a few lines of code are run, and understanding when simple sequences are messed up, and organizing in the right order.
Challenges
Lack of persistence, failure to read directions, and distractibility.
Grades 4-5: “Computer science is something that I can use to create stuff.”
Goals
CS education as a fundamental tool: building self-efficacy initially through step-by-step tutorials, then moving onto programming games and stories, eventually shifting from block to text-based programming.
Challenges
Lack of persistence, failure to read directions, and distractibility.
