Frequently asked questions

Why can’t I find a particular restaurant or shopping mall when I search?

The list comes from FEHD's published register of premises approved for dog entry. If a restaurant is not on that register - or has since been removed by FEHD - it will not appear in the app. Search results are filtered according to the area currently selected. If you previously selected a particular district, tap the Yellow Explore Areas Button—the button with four black squares beside the button in Black "My location"—and then select "All Hong Kong". You can now search the entire restaurant list.

Why do I sometimes see a number on a map pin instead of individual restaurant pins?

This means that multiple restaurants share the same mapped location—for example, restaurants in the same building. The number shows how many restaurants are listed at that location. Tap the numbered pin to view them all.

How can I make sure I am viewing the latest FEHD restaurant list?

Tap the three-line menu button in the top-left corner, select "Settings", and then tap the black "Update from FEHD website" button. The app will check for and download the latest available restaurant list.

What is "Feedback on Seating Arrangement" in the restaurant details?

If you know a restaurant's seating arrangement, you can tell us. Search for it by name, address or district, open the restaurant, tap on the button "Feedback on Seating Arrangement" and choose "Indoor allowed" or "Outdoor only". We review every submission before updating the app's data.

How is my location used?

Your location is used only on your device, to show nearby restaurants as pins relative to your position on the map. It is never stored or shared. The app works fully without location access - you can still browse every listed restaurant and find somewhere to bring your dog.

How do I remove seating feedback I submitted?

Email us the restaurant name and roughly when you submitted it, and we will delete it.

Is this an official FEHD app?

No. Paws & Plates HK is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by FEHD.
