Q4. Do you offer meet & greets before booking?
A. Yes, absolutely! I offer free meet & greets because it’s important that both you and your pet feel completely comfortable before booking. You can request a meet & greet by filling out the form on my contact page. I’ll then be in touch to arrange a time that works - either in person or online, depending on what suits you best.
Q5. What is included in a dog walk?
A. Each dog walk includes a safe, on-lead walk at your dog’s pace, with plenty of time for sniffing, exploring, and exercise. I provide one-on-one attention and never take group walks - unless the dogs are from the same household. I’ll also refresh your dog’s water if needed and make sure they get plenty of love, care and fun along the way.
Q6. What happens in a pet sitting visit?
A. During a pet sitting visit, I come to your
Feed and care for your pet
Provide playtime, cuddles and company
Refresh water and clean up any messes
Water plants, bring in mail, and do small tasks to help your home feel looked after
If you’re on holiday, I typically spend up to 2 hours per day with your pet (split across visits if needed). I can also adjust the length I am there for, depending on the pet. If you’re out for the day or evening, I can also mind your pets for longer stays as needed - just let me know your plans!
Q7. Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
A. Yes, your dog must be fully vaccinated to ensure the health and safety of all pets in my care, especially during overnight stays, where your dog will share space with my dog. I kindly ask all clients to provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations (a vet certificate) before confirming a booking.
Q8. What if my dog has special health needs?
A. Absolutely - I’m happy to care for dogs with special health needs. Just let me know about any medications/supplements, dietary restrictions, or other specific care instructions, and I’ll make sure your dog receives the attention they need. Your pet’s comfort, safety and routine are always my top priority.
Q9. What if my dog has allergies?
A. If your dog has allergies - whether food-related, environmental, or otherwise - just let me know ahead of time. I will always carefully follow any special instructions you provide to avoid any known triggers and make sure your dog stays safe and comfortable at all times.
Q10. What happens if my dog doesn’t get along with Topsy?
A. Great question! Since your dog will be staying in my home with Topsy (my friendly resident dog), I offer a discounted trial night to make sure they get along well. This trial gives both dogs a chance to get comfortable, and I’ll only move forward with overnight bookings if I’m confident it’s a good fit for everyone’s safety and happiness.
Q11. How do overnight stays work?
A. During overnight stays, your dog will be a part of my family’s home, along with Topsy, my friendly dog. They will have full indoor access, plenty of yard time, and lots of couch cuddles and company - truly a home away from home. I provide attentive care and supervision to make sure your dog feels safe, happy, and comfortable throughout their stay.
Q12. Where will my dog sleep?
A. Your dog will sleep inside my home, in a comfy spot they enjoy. I always follow your preferences - whether that’s a crate, a dog bed, the living room, or close to me - so your dog feels safe and relaxed.
Q13. How do you keep dogs safe on walks?
A. I always use your dog’s preferred lead or harness to ensure their comfort and safety. Walks are planned along safe local routes, avoiding busy roads whenever possible. I adjust the pace to suit your dog’s individual needs and energy levels. Off-lead walks are only done in fully fenced areas and always with your permission. Your dog’s safety and well-being are my top priorities on every walk.
Q14. Can you send updates?
A. Absolutely! I love sending regular photos and updates so you can see your pet happy, safe, and well cared for. Whether it’s through text, email, or social media, I’ll keep you connected and informed throughout your pet's time with me.
Q15. How much notice do you need to book?
A. I recommend booking as early as possible - especially for overnight stays, which require the most planning.
Here’s a quick guide on notice times:
Walks and pet sitting visits: Ideally, 3 to 7 days’ notice
Overnight stays (first-time customers): At least 2 weeks’ notice is needed to organise a trial night before the stay.
Last-minute bookings: Sometimes possible if I have availability - just get in touch!
Planning helps ensure I can provide the best care for your pet.
Q16. How and when do I pay?
A. I accept cash or bank transfer, with a preference for bank transfers for convenience and security. Payment is typically due before or at the time of the service, but must be completed by the end of the service at the latest.
Q17. What should I pack for an overnight stay?
A. For your dog’s overnight stay, please bring:
Their usual food
Any medication
Their lead or harness
Items that make them feel at home, such as their bed, favourite toy, or blanket
Bringing familiar items helps your dog settle in comfortably and feel safe during their stay. Before your booking, I will send a packing list based on what you have told me in our meet & greet
Q18. Can you help my shy or nervous dog feel at ease?
A. Absolutely! I understand that shy or nervous dogs need extra care. I take things slowly and gently, always working at your dog’s pace. Using calm introductions, positive reinforcement, and plenty of patience, I help anxious dogs feel safe, secure, and comfortable.
