I designed and 3D printed a force sensor adapter to aid in benchtop testing which increased safety and accuracy while testing and reduced testing time.
Problem
During testing we use a force sensor to push on a screw to ensure that the proper amount of spring force is observed. There are no adapter that can hold onto the screw head which results in trying to balance the tip of the force sensor on the screw head.
Design
I decided that a prong design would be able to capture the head of the screw and could even be used for multiple head sizes resulting in a part that could be used in future testing situations.

I used digital calipers to measure the threaded end of the force adapter to see what thread size I had to use in my design.
I used Autodesk Fusion 360 to model the part. I did not know how to add threads in CAD so I watched a couple of YouTube videos to learn how threading 3D printable parts works. I also added knurling to make the adapter easier to unscrew.
