UMiami / Jackson Memorial Hospital
The main leader of the Reproductive Health Committee 2018-2019:
I was elected as the head of the Reproductive Health Committee by the IFMSA-Brazil
students. In this leadership role, my primary responsibility was positively impacting the
community through the organization and participation in public health campaigns and
medical education events. These campaigns and events included World AIDS Day,
Breast Cancer Screening Month, Organ Donation Awareness, and the Integrative
Medicine Workshop for medical students.
Local officer of incoming exchange students 2018-2021
IFMSA brings together medical students from all over the world to engage with global
health issues. As a coordinator of the Professional Exchanges Committee, my
responsibilities ranged from developing the entire schedule for the foreign students,
which included clinical and surgical experiences with designated professors, to
arranging accommodations, meals, and leisure activities. The students were also invited
to participate in IFMSA’s volunteering campaigns. Additionally, I served as a teaching
assistant and interpreter during their training. As their clerkships came to an end, I took
charge of collecting the necessary signatures to finalize their completion certificates.
Being an active IFMSA coordinator has shaped me as a leader dedicated to fostering
global connections and supporting educational growth. I have strong ties with MDs in
multiple countries, who supplemented me with new insights on empathizing with
patients from different backgrounds.
