Q: Does my child need prior experience to join band?
A: The excellent thing about joining a band program is that you do not need any prior knowledge to be part of an instrumental program. When students sign up, not only will they learn about their instrument, they will also learn how to read and play music. There is also beginning and advanced ensembles so that your child is always learning and being challenged.
Q: What is all involved with the instrumental program?
A: The instrumental program consist of small 30 min. group lessons with their like instrument, that way they can effectively learn their instrument. The program also offers students to be part of an ensemble in their school. When students sign up for an instrumental program, they will also have the opportunity to play outside of the school with music festivals and special ceremonies.
Q: If my child is signing up for the first time, but has prior music experience, can they join?
A: Absolutely! If your child is signing up for the first time, and has prior experience, the instructor will listen to your child and will determine where they will be best placed in the ensemble.
Q: Should I sign my child up for private lessons, even though they are already taking lessons at school?
A:Yes! There is nothing wrong with supplementing outside private lessons. It has been proven that students who take private lessons, often perform at a higher level in the ensemble, and are more confident to take on more difficult music challenges.
