Mr. Acin is in his third year as Director of Bands at American Senior High School. A Hialeah native, he graduated from Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School before attending Florida International University, earning his Bachelor's of Music in Music Education.

At American, Mr. Acin directs the Mighty Marching Patriots and the Patriot Symphonic Band. In addition, he teaches the Band 1 course which is available to all students. Pushing his students to achieve excellence in all they do, he has had many students earn “Superior” ratings at the District and State levels of the Solo and Ensemble festival. During the 2023-2024 school year, the American Sr. High Bands will be attending Marching Band and Concert Band Music Performance Assessments for the first time since 2019.

Mr. Acin is in constant demand as a clinician, instructor, and musician throughout South Florida, having worked with many 'Superior' rated bands in Miami-Dade County and Broward county. During the Summer of 2022, he had the opportunity to work with music students across the entirety of Miami-Dade County as an educator for the 305 FACT Camp, a free Fine Arts Comprehensive Training held during the summer. Currently, he has the honor of conducting the FIUsion Community Band alongside Professor Barry Bernhardt, Director of Bands at Florida International University. 

Besides being an educator, he has also been an active tuba performer throughout his career, having played with the FIU Marching Band, Court-side Players (Basketball Band), Panther Gold (entertainment ensemble), FIU Symphony Band, FIU Wind Ensemble, FIU Symphony Orchestra, FIU Brass Choir, FIU Tuba Quartet, Miami Wind Symphony Brass Choir, Sam Moore, and Tony Succar. He currently performs with the Broward Symphonic Band, and FIUsion Community Band.

Currently, he is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Florida Music Educators Association, Dade County Music Educators Association, Florida Bandmasters Association, Mu Phi Epsilon, International Professional Music Fraternity, and Life Member of Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity.

Ms. Lakia "Kia" Firsher - 

Ms. Kia has been the director of majorettes and dancers since the Fall of 2010, and works as a paraprofessional at American Sr. High School. She is an alumna of Hialeah-Miami Lakes Sr. High School, where she was a majorette in the Trojan Band.
