Into the Inferno

When I had journeyed half of our life's way,

I found myself within a shadowed forest,

for I had lost the path that does not stray.

- Dante Alighieri

This portfolio combines Patrick, Auden, Auden's syllabus, Dante's Inferno, and stories from the Mahabharata and the Ramayana.

Last semester, a few of my professors here at OU discovered an old syllabus online from the the poet, W.H. Auden. Auden taught an English course in 1941 titled "Fate and the Individual in European Literature" which covered pretty much all of Western literature. The course covered over 6,000 pages of reading and is the inspiration for the two part course I am taking, "Fate and The Individual in European Literature." In the first semester of the class, we read Dante Alighieri's Inferno. I thought it would be really fun to create a project where Patrick gets sent to hell.

This project is Patrick's descent into the INFERNO. Alongside his trusty poet-guide, W.H. Auden, the dynamic duo encounters different pairs of characters from the stories found in Auden's syllabus in hell. The theme of the project will be similar to the the Inferno by Dante Alighieri, where Dante descends into the Inferno with Virgil.

All the stories are from my blog, patrick's blog.

**All of the stories from these characters will contain plots from The Ramayana and The Mahabharata.**
