Continuing our analysis on relative price misalignment, in this post, we expand the sample to include a larger number of goods and services than those offered by the Consumer Price Index (CPI). For this, we relied on the most detailed breakdown provided by the Construction Cost Index (ICC) and the Wholesale Price Index (IPIM).

Inflation often coexists with —and is the cause of— greater price dispersion. To be persistent, stabilization requires a reversal of these misalignments: there is no sustainable disinflation without an adjustment of relative prices. In this article, we propose a flexible metric to estimate the extent to which the ongoing inflation reduction process achieves this realignment.

The First Prize was awarded for the paper I wrote as my undergraduate thesis in Economics, titled "Currency Substitution and Hysteresis Effect: An Empirical Application for Argentina".
The Prebisch Award winning paper underwent a double-blind peer review by BCRA researchers, who suggested some remarks. Later, the article was published in Issue No. 79 of the journal.
The final paper of the Master’s in Applied Economics (UTDT) was published with minimal changes in Issue No. 84 of the Central Bank of Argentina's academic journal.
