STEM & Community Engagement
I believe engineering should not remain only in classrooms and laboratories — it should reach communities, inspire young minds, and solve real problems. My STEM outreach work focuses on creating opportunities for learners, especially girls and under-represented students, to explore science, engineering, and sustainable technologies with confidence. Through school visits, workshops, professional partnerships, and mentorship programs, I aim to make STEM visible, practical, and empowering.
🔷 K–12 Outreach & School Visits
As the current Student Activities Chair for the ASHRAE Ghana Chapter, I support and coordinate K–12 STEM outreach activities, including school visits, hands-on demonstrations, and career conversations. I also help lead initiatives such as AkuaBa STEM Girls, which encourage girls to explore engineering, energy, and problem-solving through practical, age-appropriate activities.
Selected activities include:
STEM outreach session at Afienya D/A Basic School (in collaboration with ASHRAE Ghana) — interactive demonstrations on energy, cooling, and everyday engineering.
STEM engagement visit to St. Joseph’s Basic School, supported through ASHRAE student outreach — introducing pupils to engineering concepts, problem-solving, and future STEM careers.
STEM outreach at Virgo Preparatory School, delivered under ASHRAE Ghana’s K–12 STEM initiative — hands-on activities and discussions designed to build curiosity and confidence in science and mathematics.
Girls in STEM Bootcamp with Good Governance Africa (GGA) — mentoring, problem-solving activities, and confidence-building sessions for girls interested in STEM.
🔷 University Student Activities & Mentorship
As a Mechanical Engineering lecturer, I mentor students on projects, final-year research, and professional development. I work with student groups and ASHRAE student branches to organise technical talks, industry interactions, and capacity-building workshops in areas such as HVAC, energy efficiency, and sustainable technologies.
🔷 Professional Society & Community Partnerships
Through collaborations with professional bodies such as ASHRAE and other community partners, I help create platforms where students and young professionals can engage with practising engineers, learn about career paths, and participate in competitions, outreach events, and technical tours. These activities strengthen the link between engineering education, industry expectations, and societal needs.
