Overview of current research projects

My recent research activities lie at the intersection of IO and market regulation, with a particular focus on public policy.

1. Competition, regulation, and market dynamics

This research strand explores how competition policy tools can be adapted to dynamic and innovation-driven markets. Key topics include merger control and the design of more flexible remedies that account for ecosystem strategies, sequential acquisitions, and long-term competitive risks. Attention is also given to how digital platforms integrate external innovation, through licensing, acquisition, or imitation, and the implications for market structure, innovation incentives, and regulatory responses.

2. Mobility, intermodal competition, and transport economics

This line of research examines long-distance and commuter mobility behaviors, emphasizing the liberalization of transport markets and the strategic interactions between incumbent and entrant operators. It analyzes pricing structures and intermodal competition between carpooling, high-speed rail, and coach services. A dedicated effort focuses on constrained mobility in low-density areas, particularly among rural youth, aiming to inform the design of inclusive and sustainable transport policies.

3. Environmental challenges and the role of competition policy

This emerging axis assesses the environmental consequences of corporate behavior and market strategies. For exemple (see below) it investigates how anti-competitive conduct can delay the adoption of cleaner technologies and increase cumulative emissions, raising key challenges at the interface between competition enforcement and environmental protection. This includes both empirical analyses of coordinated practices and policy-oriented research on integrating environmental concerns into competition law.
