Is Paths Crossed open for applications?
At the moment, no. We are currently in development getting the group ready for opening! Please stay tuned for further updates about our openings. As of right now, the plan is to open the clans in this order: LichenClan, JuniperClan, and SedgeClan.
What is the maturity level for this roleplay?
Paths Crossed is limited to members ages 18 and over-- however, as far as the content itself, we try to keep things roughly PG-13. We try to follow the guideline that if the content involved is fair game maturity-wise for the Warrior Cats book series, it's fine for this roleplay, too. The age limit is less-so for the sake of content within the roleplay, but more-so to keep the age range of the players consistent for moderation's sake. We encourage anyone too young to apply for this roleplay to seek out the many amazing spaces to roleplay Warriors within the fandom and to return when they are able to apply.
For any fair game content that still may be disruptive for some members, we encourage anything particularly gruesome to be placed under a spoiler warning within the roleplay post so it can be avoided by anyone who would prefer not to see anything upsetting for them, personally. We do not allow breedings/romantic relationships between first, second, third, or fourth degree relatives, sexual themes, or any other subject matter that would be heavy enough as to disrupt the enjoyment of the roleplay for an average member.
How does time work in Paths Crossed?
Paths Crossed follows a time system where one real life day is equal to one day in roleplay. A day rolls over at midnight in Pacific Standard Time, and roleplays are expected to be wrapped up at approximately this time-- if a roleplay is started before rollover and needs to extend into the next day, it's no big deal, but any roleplays that last longer than that are expected to be moved to our time warp channels. These are channels that exist outside of the canon "clock," and members can freely roleplay out any scene that took place in the past.
How active do I need to be?
We understand that, as adults, a fictional cat roleplay cannot be prioritized over real life responsibilities and we will work with members as much as possible to work alongside any difficult schedules. There is no strict activity check, but if moderators have noticed a member has been inactive for a long span of time without communication, we may check in and see if that member is still interested in remaining in the group. If a member goes inactive without communication and does not respond to moderators after repeated attempts at getting in contact, we reserve the right to remove you from the roleplay and retcon characters of any personalized details so as not to majorly disrupt the experiences of those still within the group.
We suggest that members roleplay at least once a month to keep up with the roleplay, but, in the end, so long as you're having fun and communicating enough for us to know you're invested, you're welcome to stay in the community as long as you want.
What are the guidelines for joining the roleplay?
While the server is based in an American timezone and run by American moderators, anyone from any part of the world can join this roleplay. We are open to members of all skill levels and do not require previous writing experience to join. We do our best to accommodate everyone so we can all come together and enjoy writing alongside one another. So long as you are confident in your abilities to write in English and are 18 years or older, you have a place here in Paths Crossed.
What are the realism standards?
We try to remain as realistic as a roleplay about anthropomorphized cats can be. We do not use any magic or crafting systems and, aside from having human levels of intelligence, cats are not expected to behave essentially any way a cat wouldn't behave in the real world.
We maintain realistic genetics in this roleplay just to establish a status quo and give everyone a solid level of expectation for them and their peers. We understand not everyone loves higher standards of realism in their character's appearances, but we try to give our members as much autonomy and power over their characters and designs while keeping everyone to a common standard. This also means that any cats with purebred histories or human influence such as human accessories are considered uncommon amongst a group of feral cats and are expected to have a reasoning within their history as to how they found themselves in their Clan.
Where is the roleplay based?
The clans themselves are fictionalized and somewhat exaggerated for the sake of diversity amongst the three clans, but the location of the group is loosely based on Southern California in the United States. JuniperClan takes place in a California coastal sage and chaparral, LichenClan takes place in a montane chaparral and woodland-- based on the Cuyamaca mountains, and SedgeClan takes place in a California coastal shrubbery and wetland.
What is the character limit?
Members can have four permanent characters within the roleplay spread out over a maximum of two clans. Moderators are allowed one additional permanent character for the sake of assisting in all three clans. We encourage members to be very considerate and thoughtful about taking on filling character slots, as we want to emphasize an environment where members are not spread too thin over too many obligations and instead focus on making the most out of every character they control. Members must wait 6 months to replace an empty character slot after they kill a character or give one away.
