BRANDING TRENDS SHAPING FUTURE COMPANY INNOVATIONS
Living in a future oriented society it becomes very important for companies to understand the latest trends, latest technologies and how to prepare their businesses for it. These trends define the next decade of business innovation so they should be taken into serious consideration by businesses in order to drive innovation by being in the forefront for many years to come. In this report, we talk about three such trends which businesses in the related fields have to look into both in the international and Nepalese market in order to differentiate, stand out and also in one case avoid brand failure due to mass boycotts. So, let us look and three such trends

Animal leather substitutes are being considered by brands due to widespread public outcry.
Leather, like fur, is made from animal's skin, but it has become not only an acceptable but also a common kind of apparel in society. Animal leather can be found on belts, shoes, handbags, sofas, phone covers, wallets, and vehicle seats, among other things. Leather becoming ubiquitous of our society is an understatement.
Leather comes from a variety of animals, including cows, pigs, sheep, and goats, as well as unusual creatures like ostriches, kangaroos, and alligators. The leather business is responsible for the murder of approximately a billion animals around the world, with India and China being the largest exporters.
The majority of leather in the United States comes from cows and calves, which are animals removed from the dairy sector after their milk output declines and calves bred for veal. Designer labels such as Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Christian Dior, and others sell products produced from the skin of unborn calves and lambs, which are the result of aborted pregnancies, and this is referred to as luxury. These brands have been highly accused for doing so. Exotic animal leather from alligators and crocodiles is also in demand; factories raise their flesh and skin. Every year, millions of kangaroos are butchered in Australia, and snakes are frequently skinned alive. Ostrich slaughter is popular in South Africa, with the business supplying skin to Hermes and other fashion brands. In most parts of India, healthy animals and cows are killed and slaughtered in secret because cows are revered in India. This leather is sold to high street brands and if you buy leather, this is what you are paying for and people are getting more aware about it. In China, estimated 2 million dogs and cats, to be labeled incorrectly as leathers from other animals. Top brands source leather from China.
So we can take out a conclusion from this that there is no such thing as humane leather as all leather is a product of torture of not only animals but humans as well as turning skin into leather requires the use of incredibly dangerous chemical causing cancer risks, skin diseases and heavily disabled people bring born along with slave labors with many workers being children. Such leather also cause environmental issue as toxic water is dumped into rivers and lakes, leading them to be highly toxic for people living nearby, fossil fuels are also heavily used.
People are becoming more and more aware of this phenomena and companies have and even more so in the future will face heavy backlashes from the general public if they continue sourcing and making products from such animal leather as it is unethical and will also cause huge harm to their brands and may even face boycott.
There are many vegan leather substitutes that are readily available which cause no harm to the animal, humans or the environment which can be used as great substitutes. We can
also talk about one such alternative where two Mexicans entrepeuners, Lopez Velarde and Marte Cazarez have gone famous from creating leather from cactus, such as initiative could save billions of animal killed from fashion. The fabric they have created using natural dyes are called Desserto which cause no harm to the environment and also saves animals from cruelty. With the fashion industry being the second- largest polluter in the world and leather being a major part of it, brands seriously have to start looking at such alternatives.
Even in Nepal, the leather fashion industry is growing with brands like Latido and Rhino Nepal Leather Craft being at the forefront of it as these brands have a great requirement to be proactive and adopt other forms of leathers and not animal leathers. As we know any foreign trend sooner or later finds its way into Nepal, it may be inevitable to when questions may start rising for these brands and it may lead to boycott of them, so it becomes important for such brands to adopt environmental friendly alternatives and also strongly communicate about it. So, people starting to be aware and not adopt animal leather products is a big trend which is currently availing and will headline the world fashion markets soon, so it becomes very important for companies to react in a proactive manner.
Trend of integrating automation in business
I would like to start the description of the trend with an example, let us go to a Pizza Restaurant in Mexico, where in the kitchen we can see an example of automation where a robot named ‘Bruno’ has started working where it performs the job of taking a pizza of the end of a line and putting in into an oven as shown in the picture below.
Although this is a small example, it gives us an idea of how automation is being used and will be used I a greater degree in the future. Such automated robots not only work efficiently but they never call in sick, need no pension or benefits and also does not complain being termed the ‘Perfect employee’. In the same restaurants robots also prepare the perfect pizza once they are ordered to do so from even your own phones.
They now function in a co bot environment, with a combination of humans and robots working together but the owners aim to make this process fully automated.
We know that in manufacturing industries technologies take up the manual labors, making jobs obsolete but the target now is white collar jobs as they can learn and analyze, the next target is the high paying jobs.
Systems have been put into place to create intelligent automation that can learn, make decisions and outthink the brightest human minds.
Another such example of a white collar automation in place is a software created by Blue J legal, which performs researches of a lawyer. How this works is, if there is a legal matter, you can answer questionnaires and put forward your problems, then the system analyzes huge amount of cases and creates a personalized solution for the exact problem. This shows that what this software does in moments would take the brightest minds days to do, and also having an accuracy of 94%. The jobs of future lawyer may be changing and they need to be technologically friendly in order to combine such technologies with human expertise in order to come out with a stronger solution.
The best case scenario for companies is to create such technologies with coding and even in the Nepalese market we have started seeing such examples with restaurants like Naulo and KKFC using robots in place of waiters to deliver foods to the table of the customers, which in itself has been able to create a differentiation for these restaurants.
So, in these two examples we saw how automation is changing the world job market for the mass but if we put in our brand glasses on, this is something which will make or break many brands in the future. So, it becomes very important for brands to adapt to the change and adopt to some futuristic automation tools in order to be ahead of time and compete in this world. It is not always necessary to take out all of human as we all know, nothing can really replace the human element but to ignore such a change could be nothing sort of foolish. So, yes automation could be the future and brands have to take it on aggressively in order to reap the maximum benefits out of it.
Brands have to think about how the can deliver some of their services in a digital format using things like augmented reality, virtual reality and mixed reality. This trend is being further driver by the pandemic, as during the pandemic people realized do they really need to go to brick and mortar outlet to try on makeup when they can test the makeup through augmented reality. Customers also have started preferring trying out clothes in Virtual Reality whether it be inside stores or from homes to see how the clothes will actually look like. Such forms of virtual interfaces will continue in the foreign market in 2021 and may also make inroads in the Nepalese Market.
Once such example is system that allows you to try on clothing just by standing in front of a web cam. Here we are talking about ‘Swivel’, the first virtual try on system that helps people see how clothes and accessories from the store collection look in real time. This helps remove a lot of barriers as people can try a wide variety of clothes and accessories on without any hassle and in a short period of time. Such technologies could also be prevalent for boutique stores in the Nepalese market as people can try on different accessories and clothes both in the stores and at home, helping them try a wider variety and also save time, this could help boutique like Oodni create a real differentiation and be a leader in terms of technology in the market.
Here we can take example of an application of Sephora named ‘Sephora Virtual Artist’ using augmented reality that lets people try on makeup which lets people see how they look in different shades without having to put them on. This reduces a lot of perceived risk for people on whether they will like the makeup or not, also helping improve customer satisfaction overall. These are several other apps also that let you try on and purchase makeup, this can be done for nails as well. In our country premium make up and nail parlors can use this technology to ensure higher satisfaction of their customers.
After looking at some of the examples of virtual reality, we can see how brands globally have been leveraging such technology and also how stores in the given categories can leverage them in order to reduce perceived risk and improve customer satisfaction leading to higher sales and formation of positive brand attitude and equity.
So, these are some the trends that are currently prevalent mostly in the global market and will surely find its way to the Nepalese market. Companies globally and locally have to be prepared to identify such trends and take actions so that they can lead innovation through it and not be extinct. Even for us as future brand managers and marketers it is always important to keep an eye out for such business trends in order to maximize the benefits of it for our business.

Gap Between Academics and IT industry of Nepal
IT means information technology. The word IT itself is an Important part of people’s daily life. World is dynamic and in this dynamic world there is huge demand for manpower in information technology. Nowadays technology has become an important part of human’s daily lifeIT means information technology. The word IT itself is an Important part of people’s daily life. World is dynamic and in this dynamic world there is huge demand for manpower in information technology. Nowadays technology has become an important part of human’s daily life. Its demand and scope are huge in this global market. According to the research, the demand for manpower in computer science and information technology is high and the world's top position jobs are under computer science.
The basic skills of computer science have become as important as our mother tongue. The reason behind the popularity of IT is its global application and median to reduce the huge human effort. Due to its huge demand the world seems like a small village.
While talking about the impact and demand of IT in Nepalese market, though we are small in geography we are competing with the global market. Every organisation, market and various sectors have been covered with technology. Not even the market but also our academics and curriculum have various fields related to computer science. Universities have been running various faculties of IT & computer science. While comparing academics and market, we can see a huge gap between them. Our curriculum and academics couldn’t be able to fulfil the requirements of the market. The requirement of this market has been fulfilled by such manpower who have taken skill:-oriented training from various institutes. While talking with the students who passed out from university their answer is that our academics are outdated. We are learning the technology of 80’s and 90’s which has zero application in modern technology. Such type of bitter truth is in our academics.
Let’s compare the technology from five years ago and present; we see huge differences and it seems to be complicated. But our university is teaching such academics which was designed about a decade ago and has never been revised. That’s why students cannot adjust within the market. Therefore, this is the present scenario of Nepal’s IT market and academics. Due to such a scenario, our academics are creating a huge gap in the IT market. If this problem isn’t solved in the time, then our academics will definitely be deviated out of track which may result in the negative consequences and may lead
to bad effect on the future of students
Home School Home
Home is all those memories created and cherished, all those long distance calls made with my family and friends. Home is where heart really is.
Squeezing my life in a suitcase and leaving my beloved country was the best decision I could have possibly made. When I moved here, life turned into a beautiful journey filled with uncertainty and I was bound to grow up in an unexpected way.
I always thought my maternal's place was my second home. But now Bangladesh has become my second home. It's been exactly one year since I arrived here in the land of tigers. I have had some hard times and some good times. All in all, it was a wonderful experience. I not only speak two languages, I have two of everything, two SIM cards with contacts from all over the world, two bank accounts, two ATM cards and coins of two different currencies which always end up mixing when I am about to pay for something.
Being treated like a foreigner is a fun deal. People want to talk even with their broken English. Somewhere I get discounts, somewhere I am tricked, sometimes I am right there in the spot light just for being a foreigner. Living abroad is fun until you are not overwhelmed by homesickness. On one hand there were news from home, birthdays I have missed, people left without getting a chance to say goodbye, weddings, festivals, celebrations I was not able to attend. And, on the other hand, in my new home time flew at top speed. Nostalgia striked hard when I expected it the least. A food, a smell, a song these smallest things made me homesick, I missed things which I never thought I would miss.
After six months, I was home. It was a beautiful moment. And I realized I was a tourist in my own city. It struck me how little of everything has changed back home. Living abroad, a simplest task can be a huge one. I had to deal with my life differently. I had to learn how to be patient and how to ask for help. Glad I had very helpful friends and seniors who were always there for me.
I dealt with the unexpected. All the senses were sharpened up. New place, new people, new culture, new embraced few lessons in life. I started growing in humility. evolved. Adrenaline became part of my life. habits, new challenges awaited in the way and was terrifying at first but now it has become unusually addictive. Life is like "work harder, make it better, do it faster" in a loop mode now.
All all it's been a pleasure being part of Bangladesh Medical College. I am thankful to the teachers, management team and my friends for giving me an opportunity to call Bangladesh my home, my second home.

Is the period blood pure or impure? This question might confuse a lot of people about menstrual blood. To answer this we must first understand the menstruation cycle; the natural process of the female body. Females have an amazing process going on inside their body. One of them is menstruation. The menstruation cycle occurs during the reproductive age of a female. It usually starts at the age of 12 and ends usually at the age of 50. It differs from person to person. The end of menstruation is called menopause.
Every month a female body prepares itself for conceiving a baby when she is in her fertility period. The hormones called ‘estrogen’ and ‘progesterone’ stimulated in the female body are responsible for this cycle. The menstruation cycle occurs in four phases. At first from day 1st to day 6th blood flows from the vagina. After day 7th, a thin lining starts developing at the walls of the uterus which is called uterus lining. During the cycle, usually on day 14th ovulation occurs which is simply the release of eggs from the ovaries. Meanwhile, the uterus lining then becomes thicker and thicker as the days pass until day 28th. This layer is said to be preparing for the fertilized egg to form and provide essential nutrition when sperm from the male and ovum(egg) from the female meet and fertilization occurs. If the fertilization occurs, the menstrual cycle stops until the baby is born. But if the fertilization doesn’t occur then the layer gradually falls and it is thrown out from the vagina by the body which is a natural process. This phenomenon repeats and occurs every month which we call ‘The menstruation cycle’.
For a long time, I used to think menstrual blood was impure. It is the impurities that come out every month. Until I found out, the uterus lining is formed by the combination of tissues of blood vessels, endometrial fluid, and mucus and the blood component in menstrual discharge is the same as arterial blood (Source:Find here). It is the purest form of blood which can also be used as NPK fertilizer (Source:Find here & here). But here in our society there is a myth that a female on their periods should not be touching plants or else it will die.
When the blood itself can be used as fertilizer for plants it is irrelevant to say females on their period are impure or the blood that flows is impure. There is no evidence that the menstrual discharge is toxic and dangerous as well until and unless she is having infectious disease.
Due to my lack of knowledge and myth deep rooted in the society I also had misconception. But now I no longer consider it as impure blood. Why should we consider it impure? Just because the blood comes out from the vagina, we cannot say it is impure. It is a myth which exists in society. We have to clear our perception of menstruation and accept menstrual blood as pure blood. We the youths should be able to break the taboos and stigma for the upcoming generation, for a better world. We should believe and analyse the actual facts rather than the existing myths. We should normalise and accept menstruation. If we don’t then who will?

Time is Relative
Waking up early is always the hardest part in everyone’s life. This relative element of time waits for no one. Time as stated by Einstein himself is said to be relative. In fact it kind of is philosophically looking at the human mind. A simple example is that an hour doing something you like and enjoy seems to go by faster than the hour spent doing nothing.
Let’s get back to the morning. It’s 5 o’clock and the alarm on your phone is blaring as loudly as it can. You wake up hastily and make your way up the stairs to the kitchen counter. The tea you started to brew is slowly changing colour and as is the sun seen from the kitchen window.
Classes in the morning is always filled with students who aren’t completely awake yet with everyone yawning and rubbing their eyes. The teacher enters like an ember ready to spark joy and knowledge in others .And as stated, the relative element of time passes ever so slowly throughout the day. Assignments, reports, presentations load up time goes on ever so slowly throughout the day.
Times up and students start packing their stuff. We walk through the corridors down the stairs out the protected walls and into the open world. Horns trumpeting, vendors yelling, bikes swifting right pass you, buses leaving, the outside world is chaotic. The sun which has passes the zenith gives you unfathomable amount of heat that sweat starts dripping from your forehead. Your destination is near now but the distance relative to you seems shorter as you walk the same path everyday.
You enter inside and a cold chill of the air conditioner hits you on the face. The transmitter in the back room is humming in the same rhythm and as you take off your bag you realize how much work has piled up. Even though you are a student there are some commodities your family can’t afford and just to cut the relative element of time you take to reach everywhere you work here as to save up for those 2 wheels. The Chief calls you just as you were checking in and you show them the designs you’ve been working on. The clock starts ticking as you sit down the big blue table, unzip the cover on your laptop and start stretching the small adjustments on the designs you’ve been working on. Arguments, explanations, projects and finally time completes its journey throughout the day.
Finally now it’s time to retire from this busy schedule where sometimes this element of time runs slowly and sometimes quickly than you anticipated. As you fall on your bed you start to crave a presence of someone. This is the point where you start to question this limited element of time that you’ve got on this world..As dusk begins to get engulfed by the darkness of the night the time in your hand slows down again. The busy schedule that you’ve been following limits your interaction with people. You’ve just walking on your youth and by this time you must develop feeling for the opposite gender.
But you are in a big dilemma. The schedule has forced you to develop a lifestyle where you don’t have this feeling for anyone. The limited interaction now leads you to go back to your past whenever you want to search for someone. But the past is even more jumbled as you did not peruse this path with anyone. Still you try as much as you can but nothing seems to work. We all say that time is relative because time with a certain person seems to go much faster but what happens when you haven’t felt those feelings for a long time. A small role here is also played something you lack of as to get around efficiently which forces you to work harder to get those wheels before this sweet element of time flows faster than you.
As stars sparkle in the clear night sky, you start to think even deeper about everything. The loneliness in your hands are very hard to kill as your tries on this matter seem to fail every time. The conversation with people from your past decay’s as fast as it began. Our families are weird as our whole life we’ve been told just to focus on studies and career but know that this time that we have is very precious as even if it goes fast or slow, every second of it counts.
You won’t believe how fast this element of time goes by even though people say its moves steadily. The human mind is designed in such a way that we perceive the flow sometimes steadily and sometimes rapidly. Though it seems that in this situation my time is steady but today or tomorrow this hand will grip someone’s hand, maybe from the past or the future and will boost the relative speed with my element of time

Six am Thought
Festivals then vs now a sudden thought popped up in my head. Have you ever wondered how 90s kids enjoyed Dashain and Tihar back in their days? Saying this makes me sound old but trust me you can clearly see the difference even if you are not that old.
Two of our major festivals named Dashain and Tihar are the celebrations we kids wait for every year. One for dachinas, playing cards and flying kites while the other for playing deusi bhailo and firecrackers. But are festivals the same as they used to be 5-6 years ago? Have you ever thought about it?
The answer is NO there is a big difference. Talking about a recent incident about duesi bhailo you could hardly see any children of the age 6-13 years participate. The craze for this day is slowly fading away yet it is not. In the sense that the older generation of 90s kids and below are following the traditions and saving the culture. But will it last long if we don't teach our younger generations its importance?
Tihar has to be one of my favorite festivals as it is also the festival where we worship and honor animals, ourselves, and the bond between brothers & sisters. You must have seen dogs shivering during tihar, hiding under blankets and beds to stay away from those sounds (Pataka's sounds). In the morning during kukur tihar we worship our dogs and in the evening we scare them to death. Why is that? Did you know that dogs can hear 12x more frequency of sound. Is there a way we could solve this problem? I question myself.
