The Past Metallurgists Society

Lecture Series

at the University of Cambridge

Organized by Matteo Seita and Mengying Liu

Who are the giants on whose shoulders we stand?

Who are the metallurgists from the past

That inspire our work in this coloured land,

Where all changes but the way steel is cast?

This is the first Past Metallurgist Society lecture series. During this two-day summit, modern metallurgists from all over the world will meet to honour distinguished metallurgists from the past by telling their stories and by explaining how their accomplishments inspire today’s metal research.

The Venue

St John's College, a historical gem in the heart of the University of Cambridge, founded in 1511, provides an inspiring backdrop for our symposium on materials engineering and metallurgy. Its rich heritage, combined with a tradition of academic excellence and architectural splendor, including the iconic Bridge of Sighs, offers a unique environment where historical anecdotes meet cutting-edge research.
