passenger's state of mind: Future narratives for semi-autonomous cars

Güzin Sen


Dr. Sen currently works as an Assistant Professor at METU Department of Industrial Design, She received her PhD degree from the University of Liverpool with her research funded by EPSRC (UK) and conducted in collaboration with Bentley Motors and Virtual Engineering Centre. In this research, which was published in Int. Journal of HCI and DRS2018 Conference Proceedings, she explored the ways of empowering front-seat passengers in luxurious car journeys with design and experience prototyping of infotainment systems through VR simulation. Her research areas also cover embodied interaction, aesthetics of interaction, and visual communication techniques in industrial design.

Sıla Umulu


Sila Umulu is a PhD candidate and a Research Assistant at METU Department of Industrial Design. Her PhD research focuses on identifying the ways that augmented reality can encourage children’s nature exploration. Throughout her academic carrier, she has conducted several participatory design workshops with various user groups. Her research areas include participatory design methods, design with and for children, and child-computer interaction.
