About the Harm Reduction Community Outreach Club
We are an on campus student organization that seeks to promote health among the students of Lewis & Clark College and the greater Portland area while recognizing the importance of autonomy and community. We recognize a need in our community for education surrounding safer drug practices, harm reduction resources, and an end to the stigma that surrounds substance use.
We confront these issues by disseminating education related to drug use and harm reduction, by encouraging the use of naloxone and fentanyl test strips, by holding space for individuals who use drugs and those who want to talk about drug use, and by participating in community outreach with local organizations.
HRCOC was started by a group of passionate Lewis & Clark College students with lived experience with substance use and recovery in the fall of 2023.
Every club member is given equal ability to engage with important decision making and club related activities. We have no official board and no hierarchical structure.
Club members engage with the community in a variety of ways. For example, we...
