Party Animals tells the story of people working in and around the British Parliament, including researchers, lobbyists and Members of Parliament. The show featured Matt Smith in his first major television role, portraying Labour Party researcher Danny Foster. Andrew Buchan played Scott Foster, Danny's older brother and a lobbyist. The show also starred Shelley Conn as a Tory party parliamentary researcher and aspiring Minister, and Andrea Riseborough, who works alongside Danny as an intern.
In Australia, ABC1 began broadcasting the show from 2 December 2008 on a Tuesday 8:30pm timeslot over the ('non-ratings period') summer break.[2] In the province of Ontario, Canada, TVOntario (Ontario's public educational media organisation), began showing the series in February 2010. In the province of British Columbia, Canada, The Knowledge Network began showing the series in September 2011. In Norway, NRK broadcast the show from May to June 2012.[3]

Spread across around 20 maps and three different game modes, you'll be fighting off other animals across multiple rounds. The idea is similar to the likes of Gang Beasts, with wobbly creatures running around doing completely stupid things. Fight on planes, submarines, trains and more.
First up Steam Deck: the good news is that it runs on Steam Deck, my testing is with SteamOS 3.5 Preview and Proton Experimental. The only issue I had was setting my name at the start requiring the touchscreen and same with editing a custom game name, as gamepad input on the keyboard kept removing it. Apart from that though, it has been pretty smooth sailing.
Performance on Steam Deck isn't as good as expected though, considering the pretty simple style and game mechanics. Even on Low details it wouldn't go much above 40FPS. Thankfully, it feels pretty great though and it looks just fine thanks to the cartoony style to it.
Something to keep in mind is that this is an online-only game, it does not have full offline play and it does also have micro-transactions. You can earn as you play, but you can also pay to get more of the in-game currency to buy more expensive cosmetic outfits from the in-game shop. Two things that have been pulling down the Steam user review score with players not particularly happy about either. Not enough to stop people playing it though, with it being one of the most popular releases of 2023 so far (over 55,000 people played it at the same time today).
Overall it's really fun, some properly laugh out loud moments can be had in it and across Steam Deck / desktop Linux you can have a good time with it. I would just suggest turning off voice chat, because for some reason it's on by default and open mic too.

I like to think of myself as a DC, "Designated Crafter". Most of the people who know me will tell me about a new project they really want to try and then follow with, "Do you think you could do that?" or "You could probably make that, right?". Now it sounds like I don't enjoy this roll in life but it's the exact opposite! I love it! That brings me to today's little DIY ditty.

She showed me what she was looking at and followed with a tentative, "Could you do that?" Of course! So, here one of the fun projects I worked on for little Miss Sophie.
First, paint a layer of white on the animals (these were only $3 each at Michael's) and allow to dry. This will really make your top color pop. You may need a few coats depending on color, like the bright pink on the giraffe. I even found there to be a difference in coverage between the different brands of paint I used. You never know.

While electoral politics in the United States establishes political winners and losers, neither party has recently held a consistent, unassailable grip on all branches and levels of government. Both parties are well-funded and while one party may lose political power temporarily, each tends to ascend to power on a regular basis. Political parties exist not in a static hierarchy but a dynamic system where political power shifts back and forth between them.
YouGov uses block randomization to maximize representativeness. For the SSI sample, we imposed population based quotas for joint distributions of race and education to maximize broad representativeness. This sample is reasonably representative of the national population, although it contains comparatively more women and fewer middle-aged people than the national population. The distributions of demographic variables can be found in the Appendix.
We also plot the relationship between blatant dehumanization and each individual party feeling thermometer. It does not appear that the result is driven by inparty or outparty affect alone - both feeling thermometers have similar relationships with blatant dehumanization. See Fig. VI in the Online Appendix.
In keeping with the suggestions of Miratrix et al. (2018) the analyses presented here do not use sampling weights. Distributions of sample demographics including age, race, gender, household income, and partisanship can be found in the Appendix.
We also included an ambiguous condition that did not specify whether the perpetrator group was composed of Republicans or Democrats. For interpretational clarity, we exclude this condition from the focal analysis. Based on recent work, we suspect that although political party was not explicitly mentioned in this ambiguous condition, many participants might infer that their rival political party committed the misdeed.
It is possible that some respondents may make assumptions/inferences regarding the race of the partisans involved, specifically that Democrats are more likely non-white. In fact, Ahler and Sood (2018) show that voters overestimate the percentage of Democrats who are black. Having said that, we made a conscious choice in the design of this experiment to not guide respondents to imagine white Democrats or Republicans, either through the text or image. This is because we view racial associations as part of the admittedly bundled party label treatments.

But what exactly is Party Animals about? Take the ragdoll physics of tricky puzzler Human Fall Flat, the addictive fast-paced rounds of Fall Guys, and especially the Play-Doh fighting found within Gang Beasts, and you get the picture. All that is left is a generous dollop of cuteness, and the Party Animals recipe is complete. Set across three distinct modes, twenty unique maps each offering environmental hazards, your goal is to emerge victorious in free-for-all or team-based games.
Typically, rounds will last a maximum of five minutes, and death is not the end. Eliminated players can throw in bombs and the like from the grave, to aid their own team-mate or just royally screw over others.
Invite friends to the party and things get even more exciting. Party Animals supports up to four players in split-screen local play, and up to four in a group when online. Regarding the latter, inviting a friend is easy, however it would be nice to be able to access the menu and customise your characters without leaving the lobby. Otherwise, things go on without a hitch, and the netcode has, in my experience, worked perfectly.
Most of the cosmetics, however, are entirely unlockable through gameplay and the rewarding of Cookies. These are the in-game currency earnt through completion of games and weekly challenges, and arrive in your account at a more than generous rate. After only a couple of hours of play-time, I had enough to pick-up a Rare skin for my fave crocodile Coco, and cannot wait to deck out further heroes with cool skins.
The inclusion of a Custom Games mode is a start, however even this is limited. One can only choose a map to play on, with only minor alterations that can be made. Allow us to up the spawn rate of weapons, only allow crossbows, or simply make the score limit changeable; that kind of thing. 152ee80cbc
