We as Baptists believe that music is part of worship to God Almighty and as it is written in
(Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; / Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.)
It is very important to sing what God specifically wants us to sing for Him and we believe that those are Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual songs with a simple solemn guitar or piano accompaniment and not "praise & worship contemporary worldly type of music"
God is the main audience when we sing, when the music starts to please men (visitors or ourselves) then it is not spritual but carnal (fleshly)
(John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.)
(Galatians1:10 For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.)
Psalms are God's words (usually from the Psalms but not always) put to music.
Hymns are formal expressions of praise or declarations of God's truth.
Spiritual songs are songs that deal with the spiritual life and are the most personal of the songs.
