With the rising cost of education, like apprenticeship and mentorship programs, schools are not sources of knowledge to be walled off for only those who can afford it. A better world is possible. One where we can learn from the moment we are born, no matter how we choose to: public universities, apprenticeships, self-guided learning, all of it. The number one thing stopping us now is the same that creates war, keeps us hungry, sick, tired, and depressed: capitalism. We can fully fund our public schools and remove the limits on education set by this system.
We all know that Brienna can be intimidating (insert image of her smiling) but as our legislator for HD36, we can count on her leading from the community, not ideology. She will champion partnerships between higher education institutions and industry leaders to scale up apprenticeships, work-based learning, and stackable credentials that lead to high-demand, living-wage careers.
An educational component is necessary in the growth of our kids. Let's build on our successes here in Colorado and ensure that child care services in our state excel at raising the next generation of Coloradans.
We still have work to do in ensuring that our kids start off on the right foot and enjoy a future of learning. To start, we must fund greater access and inclusion.
Facing a tough economy, not when they graduate, but right now, Brienna Parsons believes we can trust our students with an allowance. She will fight to create a student stipend as the beginning of a statewide universal basic income: Student UBI.
Tuition is skyrocketing and has for a long time, pricing people out. Likewise, however, universities are struggling to pay professors. Grocery prices are increasing, and everything is increasingly less affordable. The problem becomes clearer: profit-seeking, capitalism. Freeze tuition, eliminate tuition, and make all state universities and colleges tuition-free.
In addition, we must fight for free and fair speech on college and university campuses. The encampments were the right thing to do and should be rewarded with all those who lost their opportunity refunded or reincluded.
Brienna Parsons will fight for new grants and more robust funding for our libraries. They are hubs of knowledge that could serve our communities even greater, were they well-funded. Again, capitalism is in the way of a human right like education.
Apprenticeships, mentorships, technical training, and career advancement training all need more funding and more opportunities to connect to the community.
What is anticipated to be completed within the first term (2 years) and therefore will be most highly focused on will be highlighted with a hammer and sickle ☭ .
