Sidewalk information 

The PR Executive Committee acted on a recent inquiry from a neighbor regarding the potential to install sidewalks in Park Ridge. Past surveys of neighbors have shown a 50/50 interest in adding sidewalks. An August 2026 inquiry to City of Bloomington Department of Planning & Transportation Hank Duncan, shared the following: 

Regarding sidewalk construction, I want to emphasize that this is a very rough estimate without looking at other location-specific factors. On the low end, sidewalk installation costs $1MM per mile. On the high end, $2.5MM per mile. This depends on utility relocation, topography, and other factors. Let's assume that Park Ridge is in the middle at $1.75MM per mile.

From Longview/Glenwood W to the newly built sidewalk at Morningside/Yorktown Courts, it is 2,675', so we would be looking at about a $887,000 project for a sidewalk on one side of the street. There would not be a direct cost to Park Ridge residents for installation. 

Adjacent property owners would be responsible for long-term sidewalk maintenance, though I wouldn't expect cracks and heaving in the sidewalk panels until at least a couple decades down the road or more. Adjacent property owners would also be responsible for clearing the sidewalk come winter.

Conclusion: The Park Ridge Neighborhood Association Executive Committee concludes after receiving the information from the City, it is unlikely that sidewalks would be installed due to the high cost.
