Get Involved!

All of the activities organized by the Parklawn PTA depend upon the involvement of parents, caregivers, teachers, and staff. There are many ways to get involved and show your support!

Current Opportunities to Help!

Please email parklawnpta@gmail.com if you are interested in getting involved with the Parklawn PTA!

Review Teacher-Staff Mini-Grant Applications

We are now offering our Teacher-Staff Mini-grants, which allow teachers and staff to request funds for special classroom supplies. The PTA is accepting applications through November 11, and we are looking for 3 - 4 volunteers to help review the applications the week of November 14 and meet to make decisions. If you are interested in helping with the mini-grant application review, please email parklawnpta@gmail.com.

Other Ways to Get Involved

Attend monthly PTA meetings

Learn about school programs from guest speakers, get updates on the school from Principal Forgy, and help plan upcoming events. Meetings are generally 1 hour. We are looking at dates and times for this year’s meetings.

Volunteer to help with an activity

We still aim to hold virtual events this year to keep our community connected. When we need volunteers, we’ll send an email to explain how you could help.

Assist with a staff appreciation event

We support many staff appreciation activities in May during Teacher Appreciation Week, and aim to plan other appreciation events throughout the year.

Share an idea

We welcome all ideas for activities that help families connect as part of our school community. Even if you do not have time to plan the activity yourself, please share your ideas!

Volunteer with the Fairfax County Special Education PTA (SEPTA)

Fairfax County SEPTA also offers opportunities to volunteer with advocacy, events, outreach and communication, and liaising with schools in the county. The Fairfax County SEPTA website provides an online form to indicate your areas of interest.
