What is the Orton-Gillingham Approach?

Orton-Gillingham is an approach to teaching the structure of the language. It combines years of study of how the brain works and how we learn, with the logical and sequential approach to the language.

Each lesson is individualized to meet the student where they are and is based solely on the needs of the individual.

Each lesson starts basic and moves to the more complex.

The order of skills are systematic and methodical.

In addition to the logical sequence, the method uses a multi-sensory approach. This means all senses are engaged simultaneously to create the neural network students need to learn the structure of this language. This type of approach is also referred to as the VAKT approach.
