MCPS Resources for Parents/Guardians

 

Sometimes being a parent of a middle-schooler is difficult. Staying on top of your child’s academic progress is hard enough. Add to that the issues presented by social media, and emotional and other challenges, and life with an adolescent can seem overwhelming.

 

Montgomery County Public Schools is aware that parents can use help.  The Parent Homepage on the MCPS website includes links to a great deal of useful information, including forms, school lunch menus, bus routes, and directions for using the ParentVue portal.

Parent Academy

 

Each year, MCPS also holds a series of parenting classes called The Parent Academy. These classes cover a variety of topics, including college readiness, cyber safety and social media, and effective parenting. Workshops are free and childcare and interpretation services are provided. A schedule of classes is available at this site:

Eastern Middle School Counseling Department

Eastern Middle School’s Counseling Department consists of a team of counselors who are available to talk to students and parents about any issues of concern. The counselors are knowledgeable about community resources, including crisis and emergency services. The counselors can be reached at 240-740-6290. The counseling staff for 2023-2024 includes:
