After-School Activities
Eastern offers a wide range of after-school activities, such as academic support, sports, music, step team, and many others. Most after-school activities take place on days when activity buses are running (Tuesday through Thursday). Coaches and activity sponsors meet their group in the cafeteria for a quick snack, then proceed as a group to the activity location. Coaches and sponsors supervise all students until they leave the building for the bus, walk home, or are picked up by a parent.
Coaches and sponsors email the names of students participating in the day’s activities to the attendance secretary so that the school is aware of who is in the building. At the end of the activity, coaches and sponsors distribute activity bus tickets to those students taking the bus home, and wait until all students have left the building. Local Eastern students can take the activity bus to Pine Crest or New Hampshire Estates elementary schools. Students in the Humanities magnet program take the activity shuttle bus to Montgomery Blair High School where they transfer to the bus that will take them closest to their destination. The list of magnet activity bus stops is shown below.
Students may not be left in the building unattended at the end of an activity.
