It has been addressed to Parallel 26 a situation happening with current and potential students at the university regarding the online Educational Technology program offered. It has been explained the existence of an increased interest in such program that additionally has derived in an increment in the request for more information, particularly about the purpose of such online program. The interest of the students falls under the following categories:
What is an Education Technologist?
What can you do with such a degree?
How much can you expect to earn as an Education Technologist?
These legitimate concerns are being raised by students directly and members of staff to the Coordinator of the Educational Technology program.
Parallel 26 team understanding the context of the situation, has identified such audience needs to be not only informed but educated in the concepts of Educational Technology, not only as it has been used and described in the current years, but the transition it has been experiencing through the long journey from the beginning of the 1900’s to the current scenario, considering the advancements in both technology and education. Equally important is to educate the audience about how rigorous standards have developed what is now Educational Technology.
Parallel 26 team has identified two goals to help reduce the increasing load of work, that is to provide information that will be clear and effective about the online program.
Reduce in a 80% the amount of requests for information related to Educational Technology
Increase the amount of students registering for Educational Technology program in 20%
To reach such goals, the Parallel 26 team is proposing the creation of a Reusable Learning Object (RLO) that will include a multimedia presentation. This multimedia presentation will address the most common inquiries about the program, additionally, will introduce a brief anthology of Educational Technology and its morphing to what is now known as Instructional Design and Technology. Understanding that such transition involves educational and psychological developments through the years. It will be essential the emphasis in the promotion of the program, fostering the advancement of the knowledge and application of the skills developed as a result of the completion of the program, representing an advantage to candidates when competing in the educational job market.
