I have been using Evernote for the past nine years and was quite satisfied with it. However, they recently changed their business model, and working with the software has become a nightmare.
Consequently, I decided to switch to a different platform. After trying Microsoft OneNote, which I didn't particularly like, I ultimately opted to transfer all my data to Apple Notes.
Here's the migration process I followed:
Essentially, you need to export your notes from Evernote using the .enex format and then import this .enex file into Apple Notes.
The challenge is that Evernote restricts the export of all your notes (limited to 100 notes at a time), and even if you manage to do so, you'll lose the structure, such as notebooks.
Here's the step-by-step procedure:
Export your notes in the .enex format, but do it one notebook at a time. Right-click on the notebook name, select export, and then choose enex. Assign the notebook name to the exported file for easier import (e.g., the work notebook will be exported as work.enex). Perform multiple exports before initiating the import process. Larger notebooks may take some time, so please be patient.
Import the corresponding .enex file into Apple Notes using File -> Import in Notes. Rename the folder to match the notebook name you had in Evernote.
That’s it.
It took me 30 minutes to migrate nine years' worth of notes, and I also took the opportunity to tidy up my data during the process.
I suspect a similar procedure should work for OneNote and other Note taking solutions.
