7th Pan American Plant Membrane Biology Workshop

Welcome! Our PAPMBW meeting will include presentations of authorities in vanguard topics on plant membranes and membrane proteins, emphasizing the participation of members of the younger community such as graduate students and young researchers with talks and poster presentations.

We have great news to share!

The decision from NSF regarding financial support for US nationals (citizens and permanent residents) attending the PAPMBW is expected soon. (In the case of transport expenses, only Alaska, Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Southwest, Spirit and United Airlines will be considered). More details in short!  

We are looking forward to a re-encounter at the green of the plant membrane community from our American continent.

1. How membranes get organized: Nanodomains, lipidomics, protein-lipid interactions, thylakoid membrane biogenesis, lipid flippases. Membrane proteins: hetero-oligomerization, membrane contact sites, anchoring complexes assembly.

2. Characterization of the membrane transport activity: Sensing and translocation abilities of transporters, membrane assembly, mechanosensitive channels.

3. Membrane participation in development: Perception of chemical and physical signals, lipid signaling, local and long-distance solute transport in nutrition, growth, differentiation, programmed cell death, and senescence.

4. Membrane role in biotic and abiotic stresses: Insult perception, receptors recycling, processing and elicitation of tolerance mechanisms, membrane remodeling.

5. Traffic from and for membranes: Vesicular and non-vesicular lipid transport, protein addressing and recycling, secretion, targeting, and biogenesis.

6. How membranes are recently being studied: CryoEM/nanodiscs, imaging, lipid analysis, optogenetics, and informatics.

7. How membranes can be used for: Biosensors and transport engineering.
