I am Professor of Economics and Endowed Chair in the Economic Analysis of Crime at Bocconi University, where I also serve as Dean of Faculty. In 2018, I founded the CLEAN Research Unit for the Economic Analysis of Crime, supported — among other sources — by an ERC Consolidator Grant I obtained for the project “Clean Evidence on Dirty Deeds.” Before joining Bocconi, I obtained my Ph.D. from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in 2009 and worked in the Research Department of the Bank of Italy from 2007 to 2011.
My research has been published in leading scientific journals, including the American Economic Review, Econometrica, Journal of Political Economy, and Review of Economic Studies. In 2016, I received the AEJ: Applied Economics Best Paper Prize from the American Economic Association.
