They avenged the year before loss vs. Calvary Chapel and won their first gold ball since 1996 beating perenial power Valley-Bingham. It was apparent the Coach Tim Brewers' system was really catching on with the boys. It was also evident that the team was amassing some quality players for years to come. The Eastern Maine Final was a classic. The Panthers fell behind by almost 20 points but rallied to force overtime. They actually had 2 shots as time ran out to win the game in regulation but missed both. The Sabres, who won the State Game, were a "star-studded" lot but that's another story. This experience was invaluable to the boys team heading into next year.

They lost in the semifinals to the Eastern Maine winners, Bangor Christian. The Patriots didn't have the game won until late in the 4th quarter. Tim Brewer won his very first game at Bangor vs. the higher seeded Van Buren Crusaders.

In one of the strangest seasons ever (made that way by the MPA's new criss-cross, everybody plays, tourney format, the team lost a strange game. The foul line was the Panthers' enemy as the Royals tied the game late on foul shots and in overtime made most of their points on the charity line. This format used by MPA was abandoned after this confusing and disliked tournament.

The QF loss was Chris Casavants' final game as coach at Central Aroostook as he moved on to Caribou. The team was vastly improved over the season before and played well. The year after a state championship and numerous graduations was a challenge for first year coach Chris Casavant. Despite winning two thrilling overtime games at home the Panthers barely squeaked into the final tourney position 8th place. The team gave #1 Seed Jonesport-Beals a battle to the end in probably their best game of 1996-97 but were edged out by the Royals by 2 points.

This team was a scoring machine and were on a mission from the day they lost the previous Eastern Maine Final by a point. New coach Jerry Adams watched as his team averaged 90 points a game, scoring a hundred or more 6 different times including the EM Final. Their only loss was to Class C Gold Ball winner Hodgdon. In the state game, the Panthers were cruising along until Matt Townsend sprained his ankle. All of a sudden the Phoenix of Hyde were ahead 7-8 points and looking like champions. In a frantic last 4-5 minutes, the team from Mars Hill erased the lead and built a lead of 6 points before holding on to the one point victory. The second gold ball in 3 years for the blue and white.

The team that were defending State Champs, scored 100+ points in 5 games, went undefeated in regular season, posted 87 points a game and had all 5 starters average double figures in scoring did not repeat. In a slow down game, the Bulldogs did exactly what they had to and pulled off one of the great tourney upsets. In retrospect, this was a solid Machias team that did win the State Title. Panthers defeated Class C Gold Ball winner Hodgdon twice during the 1995-96 campaign. The game vs. the Hawks just before Christmas was one of the largest and loudest ever at the Panther Palace.

The Panther boys finally did it. It was a season that was leading up to something special. After losing the second game of the year to Hodgdon, the team preceded to win 20 in a row. After getting the jitters out and defeating arch rival Easton in the QF, Coach Steve Shaws' Panthers seemed to get better every tournament game. The state game was won comfortably and allowed all players to participate in this monumental event in Central Aroostook history.

The Eagles had many 3-pointers in the game while CAHS had none. The teams inexperience at Bangor showed up at times in a heart breaking 1 point loss to the Dragons.

This team won all its road games and lost just one at home to Katahdin. They finished first and after a very tough quarterfinal vs. the Pirates went on to defeat the Mariners in the Semifinals. This would be the 3rd meeting and rubber match with Katahdin. The game was close all the way but the Panthers just couldn't seem to take a lead and lost by 2 points. This was the first time in regional final since 1973.

Leading late in the game, the Eagles hit a last second shot and knocked out the Panthers by 1 point. It was the 4th time George Stevens knocked CAHS out of the tournament in the last five years.

This was Bill McAvoys first year as coach.

Not a lot of highlights to this season winning but two games. They scored over 90 points in both of the wins but generally had a hard time scoring this year and missed the postseason tournament for the third straight year.

Despite winning just six games, the boys barely missed the tournament by under a point. This was largely because of the thrilling overtime win vs. #1 Seeded (Class D) Easton at the Bears' Den after losing to them in Mars Hill.

This was a record setting season for the Panthers. They won their first 11 games and finished with a record of 14-2. They finished first in Class C and won their first two tournament games. They scored 40 points against Sumner in the first half of the EM Final and led but the Tigers tightened their defence in the second half and won the game. The team won at least two games in all four classes, A, B, C and D. Not too many teams, if any, can claim this rare task.

Lost QF vs. Woodland 41-68
This was an outstanding team that scored close to 80 points a game. They were 2-2 against Class LL and 3-1 against Class L. Unfortunately at tournament game day, the flu bug had hit the team and many players were unable to play and they lost to the Dragons of Woodland.

Not a great year for the rebuilding Panthers as they won just six games. The schedule had a lot of quality teams as foes including Caribou, who played CAHS for the last time in the regular season as the team dropped to Class M for 1968-69.

Lost QF vs. Williams 65-80
The CAHS Panthers, under first year coach George Archer, had a tremendous season in Class L and only lost one game by two points at Class LL Caribou. The boys didn't have any luck at the tournament however, losing to Williams of Messalonskee by 15 points in the quarterfinals.
1965-66 (7th)

Lost (2) - Houlton, Piscataquis
Lost QF vs. Orono 52-56
Linwood Herseys' last year as coach was also the first year of Central Aroostook as a consolidated school. The Panthers played like winners all season winning 16 times against two defeats. They scored over 90 points in 5 games including 111 vs. Washburn. They were 9-0 at home and 7-2 on the road. Amazingly, their record placed them in only 7th and they had to meet Orono, a team ACI met a lot at the tourney. The Red Riots eliminated the Panthers again but it was a very close match from the start of the game.
