I was born and raised in Siliguri, a small town in West Bengal, in a middle-class family. My father is a businessman, and my mother is a homemaker. I completed my schooling from Class 5 to 12 at Tarai Tarapada Adarsha Vidyalaya, a place that laid the foundation for my academic growth and personal values.
Like many children, I once dreamed of becoming a cricketer or a singer, inspired by Yuvraj Singh and Arijit Singh. However, my journey took a different direction when I began my Bachelor’s degree in Statistics at Visva-Bharati University. Initially drawn by curiosity, I soon realised my true passion lay in the applied aspects of statistics—using data to solve real-world problems rather than focusing solely on theoretical concepts.
This realisation led me to the fields of demography and biostatistics, a shift that was both challenging and deeply fulfilling. After graduation, I took a one-year break to reflect on my academic direction. During this period, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted lives and education systems worldwide. Instead of letting it hinder my progress, I seized the moment as an opportunity. Together with my school friend Sahil, I co-founded a web-based ed-tech platform to support students from Class 5 to 10 in the West Bengal Board. Our initiative generated approximately ₹9 lakh in revenue and provided vital learning resources during a time of crisis. However, the platform could not scale as envisioned in the post-pandemic phase.
I went on to pursue my Master’s degree in Biostatistics and Demography at the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai. This transition was made possible by the constant support of my parents, teachers, and partner, who stood by me during this pivotal stage.
Following my post-graduation, I worked as a Research Assistant on two projects—one at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, focused on congestion pricing, and another at the International Economic Association, examining gender inequality in economics academia. These experiences immersed me in intellectually stimulating environments where research, policy, and entrepreneurship intersected to address pressing societal challenges, reigniting my entrepreneurial aspirations.
In 2023, I once again teamed up with Sahil to launch 360 Analytika, a data intelligence platform committed to promoting data awareness and delivering actionable insights for developing countries. Though still in its early stages, the platform is steadily growing, with continuous efforts to enhance its features, accessibility, and impact.
As of now, I am pursuing my PhD at IIT Tirupati, where I aim to deepen my research expertise, develop innovative methodologies, and cultivate the intellectual rigour and perseverance required to drive meaningful, data-driven change in society.
