Forest collaboratives are community-based groups compromised of stakeholders with diverse backgrounds, interests, and values. Collaboratives work together to build relationships, increase partnership, and build trust between state and federal agencies, community groups, and private landowners. Although all collaboratives are unique, in general, collaboratives aim to increase conversations and public engagement around public lands management challenges to foster informed and durable solutions.
The PFC typically meets the third Wednesday of every other month from 12:30-3 pm in Sandpoint, Idaho. Meetings are typically held in the months of January, March, May, September, and November. Please see the calendar on the home page for upcoming meetings and events. If you would like to receive notifications regarding upcoming meetings, please email the facilitator to be added to the mailing list.
Any member of the public is welcome and encouraged to attend PFC meetings. Contact the facilitator if you are interested to be added to the mailing list. Please also contact the facilitator if you are interested to participate as a member. You can read more about requirements and commitments of being a PFC member in the group's protocol document here.
Although every PFC meeting is slightly different, common elements include updates from the PFC's subcommittees (Communications, Forest Projects, and Recreation), updates from legislative staff, and updates from State and Federal agencies such as the USDA Forest Service, Fish & Wildlife Service, the Idaho Department of Lands, and others.
Some meetings focus on specific upcoming or ongoing projects on National Forest Lands, others focus on broader nation-wide Forest Service updates and initiatives. Review past meeting records and agendas here to get a sense of some of the topics covered during PFC meetings.
