WEEKLY & TRIMESTER GOALS ~ FUN FRIDAY ~ GRADING ~ CLASS RULES & MINI MONEY ~ LEARNING APPS ~ CURRICULUM

WEEKLY & TRIMESTER GOALS

Your student has a weekly goal in Lexia, iReady Reading, & iReady Math that needs to be completed by the end of the day every Friday.  Time will be given in class to complete them.

Each week your student meets his/her goals they will receive a sticker on a sticker chart.  When the chart is filled up, students earn classroom mini money.

These weekly goals go towards an overall total that needs to be met by the end of the trimester. You will receive information regarding what your student’s weekly goal is for each of these apps and what your student’s end of the trimester total is as well.

FUN FRIDAY

Every Friday, a folder will be coming home with your student’s name on it.  Please check this folder every Friday.

The right side will have any graded & completed work that your student did.  Please review all graded work and remove it from the folder.  You can keep the work or throw it away

The left side may have important notices, monthly class newsletter, items for parents to complete, or redo work for you to please help your student redo and turn in by the due date.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR STUDENT RETURNS THE FRIDAY FOLDER EVERY MONDAY.

GRADING

Students will receive the following grades:

    4 = exceeds expectations

    3 = meets expectations

    2 = working towards expectations

    1 = did not meet expectations

Some assignments are completed together as a class.  These assignments will have a capital T on them to indicate they were done TOGETHER and should be 100% correct & complete.

Some assignments will just be graded on effort and receive a STAR to indicate your student did a great job, an ‘OK’ to indicate your student did an OK job but it could have been better, or an ‘X’ to indicate your student did not do well.

CLASS RULES & MINI MONEY

CLASS RULES
1.) Listen & follow directions

2.) Be courteous to others

3.) Use time constructively

4.) Raise hand to speak

5.) Turn work in on time

6.) Use appropriate behavior

MINI MONEY
I use a mini money system in my classroom.  Students are awarded mini money for good behavior, work habits, completing homework on-time, filling up sticker charts, etc.  Money can be used to purchase items from prize boxes.  Negative behavior & work habits results in mini money being taken away.

STUDENTS GET TO BUY ITEMS FROM PRIZE BOXES WITH THEIR MINI MONEY EACH TRIMESTER!

LEARNING APPS

Most of the apps that your student will need to access will be located in Clever.

We will also be using Epic (not in Clever....just on iPad home screen)

  As an extra special treat, we will also be learning about music this year.
This may be music & musician appreciation; and learning how to play the recorder & guitar.

TRIPLE CROWN RUNNING
  In addition to our regular P.E., students will be running laps around the track every Friday for something called Triple Crown.  Students will have a goal to run a total of 39.3 miles this school year….that’s the equivalent of 3 half marathons

(13.1 miles X 3 = 39.3 miles).  This idea was inspired by a San Diego running event called Triple Crown.  Students will track their miles by gluing rhinestones onto paper gold crowns.  When they reach 39.3 miles, they receive an actual Triple Crown medal.
