Andy alias Andrzej Zimniak
My professional activities were writing and science (chemistry), with an emphasis on writing, because I think that through the written word I managed to express myself best. I have published a dozen or so books, mostly science fiction, but also futurological essays and, for a change, a book of ribald epigrams.
I also used to draw and paint a bit, but finally I chose photography to visualize my worlds. A photo can capture beauty, but also feelings and emotions: nostalgia, reflection on a fleeting moment, the magic of space or the fifth dimension that has been revealed for five seconds. Yes, there are shots you can't be late for, but others can be worked on while savoring the moment of creation and delaying the release of the shutter. Of course I prefer the latter.
I want to immodestly say about my literature that it is good, although not everyone has to like it. About my science, teaching and photography, I can only say that I have done or still do them with joy and passion. Furthermore, I was a diver, traveler and explorer of volcanoes, and after retirement I am still a lover of the exotic, nice weather and white wine. Some of these fascinations you will find in my photos.
Assistant professor of physical chemistry, now retired. Place of living: Warsaw, Poland.
