Clinical Exercise is a structured exercise program delivered under the guidance of a Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist. Sessions may include equipment such as a reformer, mat work, resistance training, functional strengthening, balance work, and mobility exercises—selected to match your goals and needs.
Unlike general fitness classes, Clinical Exercise is programmed for you, reviewed regularly, and adjusted based on symptoms, function, and progress.
Clinical Exercise may be suitable if you are:
Returning to activity after an injury or surgery
Managing back/neck pain, joint pain, or recurrent injuries
Living with a chronic condition and needing guided, safe exercise
Wanting to improve strength, posture, balance, or mobility
Needing a structured plan with supervision and progression
Looking for reformer-based exercise with clinical oversight
If you’re unsure which option is right, we’ll guide you during your initial consultation.
All clients begin with a 30-minute initial consultation to ensure your program is safe, appropriate, and tailored. During this session we will:
Discuss any concerns, injuries, and relevant medical history
Assess your current movement, strength, and function
Identify contributors to pain or limitation (where relevant)
Set clear, personalised goals
Create your starting program and recommend the best session format
Semi-private sessions with closer supervision and a more personalised feel, while still enjoying the motivation of a small group environment.
A dynamic group setting with structured programming and clinical oversight. Great for building consistency and confidence in a supportive environment.
One-on-one sessions with a therapist. Ideal if you have a more complex presentation, require closer monitoring, or simply prefer fully individualised instruction.
Every session includes a brief check-in so your program matches how you’re presenting that day. We will ask about:
How you’re feeling
Any flare-ups, injuries, or changes in symptoms
Any changes in function (better or worse)
Any relevant health updates since your last visit
Your therapist will then adjust exercises, loads, and progressions accordingly. This approach helps keep your exercise plan safe, effective, and responsive.
Many clients use the term “Pilates” to describe reformer or mat-based exercise. At Palms, the key difference is that your sessions are clinically designed and supervised by a qualified clinician (Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist), with an individualised plan and appropriate progression.
Clinical Exercise is focused on:
Your goals and functional outcomes
Safe loading and progression
Movement quality and control
Injury prevention and long-term capacity building
Some clients may be able to claim private health insurance rebates when Clinical Exercise is delivered by a Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist, depending on your insurer and level of cover.
Please note:
Rebates are not guaranteed and vary by fund and policy
We recommend confirming your eligibility with your private health insurer prior to booking
Clinical Exercise may help support:
Improved core strength and stability
Better posture and movement control
Increased strength, endurance, and overall fitness
Enhanced balance, mobility, and flexibility
Reduced pain and reduced risk of re-injury
Greater confidence returning to work, sport, or daily activities

We welcome a range of funding pathways and can help you understand the best option for your situation.
We see clients using:
Private (self-funded)
NDIS (self-managed and plan-managed)
Aged Care / Home Care Packages
Medicare (where eligible, with a GP referral)
DVA (eligible veterans)
Other funding pathways (e.g., insurers or schemes, where applicable)
Where clinically appropriate, we can provide supporting documentation to inform service planning and care coordination.
One of the key differences at Palms is that our exercise classes sit within a broader allied health environment. That means clients may also have access to support across:
This can be particularly helpful for people whose exercise needs are connected to broader concerns around mobility, function, disability, rehabilitation or participation in everyday life.
If you’re unsure which facility, service, or technology is the right fit, our team can guide you based on your goals and presentation.
