Welcome to Stories of the Palisades
In the aftermath of the devastating January 2025 Palisades fires, our community was left physically scattered and spiritually broken. Some families have relocated out of Los Angeles, some are choosing to rebuild, and all of them have found themselves living in entirely new communities. Yet through it all, the identity, soul and resolve of the Palisades has endured.
Founded by two lifelong Palisadians, close friends, and High School Seniors: Henry Kamer and Max Dorband, this project seeks to give back to the community that we not only grew up in, but also hope to be an important part of in the future. The memories shared from Palisades Elementary School, Paul Revere Middle School and currently Pali High we cherish. From playing sports at the Rec Center, PPBA baseball, making and participating in Fourth of July floats, Turkey Trot and Fourth of July runs, and endless hangouts at Garden Cafe and many more to the mundane appointments with our pediatricians and orthodontists that were so integral to us. We miss it all! We are proud to be from 90272!!!
Henry has a passion for history and tradition and is interested in making sure stories are captured. He wants to make sure the beautiful traditions and overall feeling of the Palisades is remembered, thus why he co-created this project. He loves to find parallels between history and current events and to predict the future and understand the past using history. He studied an English history course (so much fun!) at the University of Oxford this summer, and hopes to complete a degree in history to use in a profession that utilizes history and the humanities as a whole to help the greater society.
Max has a passion for community, storytelling, and soccer, and is especially interested in the ways personal history and place shape identity. He created this project to help preserve the voices and memories of those impacted by the 2025 Palisades fires and to ensure that future generations understand what made the neighborhood so unique. He plans to pursue a career in the international soccer business, combining his love for the game with a global perspective on culture and communication. Max hopes to use storytelling not just to remember the past, but to inspire connection and resilience moving forward.
You’ll also find data and resources like a New York Times survey on post-fire relocation, and links to share your own story. Whether you’re a lifelong resident, a recent arrival, or someone who had to leave, this is a space to reconnect.
