"Where there is oppression, there will be resistance" - Assata Shakur
Where voices in Gaza and occupied Palestinian territories are silenced, you must be their voice. Demand a Ceasefire. Demand an end to the brutal Israeli Occupation. Here are some ways you can be an agent of change:
Repost/Post Palestinian Journalists, Activists, and voices using targeted hashtags such as:
#GazaGenocide
#GazaHolocaust
#StopArmingIsrael
#CeasefireForGazaNOW
“Do not look the other way; do not hesitate. Recognize that the world is hungry for action, not words. Act with courage and vision.” -- Nelson Mandela
"We’ve voted, we’ve protested, and this country still does not work on behalf of us working people. The General Strike is a network of regular people who know our greatest power is our labor and our right to refuse it. If we all strike together, we can make real change."
Please note that at this moment, what Gaza needs is ACTION. Fighting for a ceasefire is our number 1 priority.
Here are some ways you can ensure your safety and the safety of others during a Palestine protest:
Day in and day out humanity has been witnessing one of the most brutal genocides in history. Each day is more emotional and heart-wrenching than the next. The images that we see from Gaza and the West Bank, the stories we hear from our suffering loved ones, and the rage we feel hold a tremendous toll on our mental health if left neglected. Many of us, 75 days into this genocide, may be experiencing a phenomenon called Activism Fatigue which may result in: despair, desensitization, etc.
Here are some ways that you can combat these emotions:
Engaging your spirituality through prayer
Active Mindfulness through journaling
Talk through intense emotions with loved ones
Giving yourself time to grieve this tremendous loss of life
The fight for Palestine liberation is one that requires persistence and consistence, as with any liberation movement. Its critical to Palestinians in Gaza to keep fighting every single day. This means that we must alter our daily routines to include time for this effort. Whether that be demanding a ceasefire from your representatives every morning on your way to school/work, an hour of uninterrupted "hashtagging" on social media, or boycotting 1-3 Zionist brands (Starbucks, CocaCola, McDonalds), every proactive step towards change makes a difference. (see above for more ways to protest Zionism)
Palestine is not by any means a hopeless cause, thus the light of revolution will never be put out. Be steadfast, be patient, be hopeful, and be kind to yourself.
