We are students, faculty, staff, alums of UML and community stakeholders who stand in solidarity with Palestinian people in the face of Israeli settler colonial regime, apartheid policies and genocide. As a collective, we are deeply concerned with the silence, complicity, and violent rhetoric at UML following the most recent iteration of Israeli settler colonial occupation – the genocidal assault against Gaza and increasingly occupied West Bank since October 7. We come to this work from our relational and political commitments to Palestinian struggles and to our Palestinian friends.
We are here to carve out spaces for abolitionist education, action, solidarity, and community care within and beyond UML. In this work, we acknowledge the powerful legacy of Palestinian people’s resistance to occupation and struggles for liberation and decolonization. We are also deeply inspired by enduring legacies of BIPOC and Global South people’s movements against (settler) colonialism, imperialism, racial capitalism, heteropatriarchy, state violence and other intersecting forces of oppression.
We invite you to join us in our collective resistance!
