Between 1918-1923 the British took control of Palestine and began creating a Jewish settlement. Palestinian (arabs) weren't happy with the long going land grabs and wanted control over their own land. In 1947, the UN proposed splitting Palestine into 2 regions, one for Arabs and the other for Jews. The following year, in May, Britain left its control over Palestine, and Israel, a newly independent state, decided to continue with the UN's Partition Plan. A year and one war later, Israel controlled approx. 2/3 of the British mandate. The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) was formed, their goal was to establish Palestine as an Arab state. In June 1967, the six day war happened, resulting in more Israeli control over Palestine (Gaza Strip, the West Bank, Sinai Peninsula, and Golan Heights).
In 1987, the First Intifada transpired due to Israel's long control over the West Bank and Gaza Strip. in 1995, the Oslo II was planned to be signed to remove Israeli troops from Palestine, unfortunately the signing failed.
The Second Intifada began in 2000 and continued through 2005. In 2006, Hamas, a military group, won the election and took control of the PLO. Hamas and Israel continued to fight. In 2017, the Hamas attempted to define Palestine's borders with the 1967 defined borders plan, but as they refused to recognise Israel as a state, the plan was rejected. In 2018, a Palestinian's protest was met with Israeli troops and the death of Palestinian protesters.
