To be a Mentee, individuals should:
a) be a PaLA personal member.
b) have a desire to grow and further their professional development.
c) be willing to listen critically and objectively to feedback from their mentor.
d) be able to communicate with their mentor as often as necessary.
e) be the initiative taker in the relationship.
Guidelines for both the Mentor and the Mentee:
a) Neither party should use the mentoring experience to speak poorly of their employer or colleagues.
b) Both parties should respect the confidential nature of what is discussed.
c) Both parties should refrain from judgement about the other.
d) Both parties should notify the PALS Mentor Group of any troubles or concerns ASAP.
e) Do not expect your relationship to include mental health counseling or therapy. Mentors are not trained in this area, which is beyond the scope of the program.
