I am a tenured Associate Professor at Concordia's Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Before joining Concordia as an Assistant Professor in 2019 and getting tenure in 2024, I was a post-doc at Simon Fraser University (2016-2019), where I held a PIMS Postdoctoral Fellowship, and at EPFL's CSQI Lab (Spring 2016). I received my PhD in Mathematical Models and Methods in Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (MOX Lab) in 2016 and my MSc and BSc in Mathematics from Università di Pisa in 2010 and 2012, respectively.
I am the author of more than 30 scientific publications, including two books, book chapters, peer-reviewed journal articles, and conference proceedings. My work has been published in prestigious venues such as SIMODS, FoCM, Math. Comp., JMLR, and IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory. I have supervised more than 30 trainees at the post-doctoral, graduate and undergraduate levels. Thanks to my research, I was awarded an IMA Leslie Fox Prize for Numerical Analysis in 2019 and named Concordia Research Fellow in 2023. My research interests include numerical analysis, mathematics of data science, and machine learning.
