The cost - there are annual dues per Scout. Dues can be offset by our fundraisers that we offer, or you may choose to opt for a buyout.
The Entire Pack meets once/month (uniform attire), typically the 3rd Monday night at 7:00PM in the downstairs area of Congregational Church in East Hampton CT.
Each den set their own den meeting, which is also once/month, your den leader will inform you on which day your den meets in the downstairs area of Congregational Church in East Hampton CT.
Meeting dates and times are posted to our calendar, it is also helpful to follow our private facebook group page (we also email) for last minute announcements & reminders.
Our scouting season runs from September to June and it is packed full of fun and educational events.
Regular season activities (in addition to our den and pack meetings) include camping, field trips, and Pinewood Derby racing with cars made by the scouts. We also participate in community events such as Parades.
Pack 57 holds LITE summer time activities from June through August. Typical 1 activity per month, such as a hike, STEM activity, YardGoats baseball game, or a Nature trip. During this “off season” den and pack meetings take a break so you can enjoy the summer vacation.
We maintain a private facebook page for parents to share pictures, info on upcoming events, or to just ask questions etc,. Not on facebook? no problem.
Our main source of communication is via email to all pack parents. We also send out monthly newsletters, highlighting pack activities.
What is the parent's role?
Cub Scouting, especially at the early stages, is all about parental / familial participation. At least one parent is expected to attend all Pack & Den meetings and help guide his/her Scout through the process, acting as the Scout's "Akela." As the Scouts get older and progress up the ranks, Scouts become more independent and are able to take on more responsibility for completing their requirements. Families are welcome and encouraged to participate in all of our events.
What is the time commitment?
In Pack 57, all Scouts and parents attend a monthly pack meeting (typically the 3rd Monday evening, 7-8 pm). Scouts should also expect to meet with their den at least once/month to work on den-specific activities. Each den sets their own day/time for this monthly meeting. Beyond these two regular meetings, there are special events throughout the year like the Pinewood Derby, community service projects, camping trips, and other various fun activities. The outings/overnights/day trips are not mandatory, but are a lot of fun.
