Sunday, October 20 (10am - 2pm)
Von Oven Scouting Reservation
701 S West St, Naperville, IL 60565
Troop 222/9222 will be conducting a Scout Day that will be run in an open house setting. Cub Scouts will arrive on and off between 10am and 2pm to learn about and work on some of their adventures. Plan to allot about an hour of time to work through the stations for your scout’s rank. You will be given a checklist of stations that are specific to your scout’s rank. The activities that will be done will be things that Scouts BSA do in general scouting activities. Activities will include the Outdoor Code, flag etiquette, tending a fire, pitching a tent, tying basic knots, first-aid, personal fitness, and more. The role of the Scouts from Troop 222/9222 will be teachers and mentors for the Cub Scouts. For Webelos or Arrow of Light Scouts, this is a great time to get to know Troop 222/9222. Their leaders will be on-site if you have any questions about their troop.
It is a rain-or-shine event so dress for the weather. Please dress to be outdoors in case the weather forecast changes to rain. You will want to wear your Class A uniform, but Class B t-shirt is also acceptable. Wearing footwear that close-toed and sturdy is expected since we will be doing outdoor activities that may include campfire cooking. No Crocs, please.
Parking at Von Oven Scout Reservation can be limited so we recommend parking at the lot for Naperville Central High School directly across the street and walking over. The Von Oven Scout Reservation is located a 701 S. West Street in Naperville, Illinois. The entrance to the camp is on the West side of West Street, about 2 blocks South of Aurora Ave.
We are so grateful for all the help that Troop 222/9222 is giving us. Our pack is excited about the possibility for Scouts BSA showing Cub Scouts how fun Scouting is. This is a really fun day for our scouts. If you’re not able to make the event, please connect with your den leader to learn about how to complete the requirements independently. We are excited to see all of the Scouts from our pack enjoy time outdoors together!

Sunday, August 11 (Starting time TBD)
Scott Elementary School - Naperville, IL
We would like to invite you all to a family-fun pack event just before the school year kicks off. This event is called the Rain-gutter Regatta. On this day the pack will gather at Hunter’s Woods Park to celebrate a great summer and race boats that the Scouts have made for some friendly pack competition. Then, once the race is over the pack will provide burgers and hot dogs grilled for everyone. (If anyone in your family has dietary needs, please feel free to bring your own food to grill or eat during the picnic time.)
We will meet at Scott Elementary School on August 11th. Please bring your completed Regatta boat at that time. Racing will start around 15 minutes after the event starting time. Each Scout who participates will receive a racing segment and a certificate. After the Scouts are done racing, the gutters will be open for all kids to race their boats. If there are siblings that are interested in racing, they are welcome to purchase a boat and race at that time. If you are new to scouting and wondering about the commitment to assembling the boat, they are MUCH EASIER than building a Pinewood Derby Car. Most Scouts can assemble and decorate mostly independently.
While the racing is going on, we will be cooking up some picnic fun. Dinner will be served shortly after the racing ends. Please plan on bringing beverages for your family and a side or dessert to share. The pack will provide paper plates, utensils, and napkins for everyone. You may also want to bring bug spray, chairs or a picnic blanket for your family.

Crosstown Exotics is a reptile and bug show that travels throughout Chicagoland providing hands-on education entertainment. Our lineup of prehistoric creatures consists of a mixture of reptiles, amphibians, and bugs. From African giant bullfrogs and hissing cockroaches to a 16ft Burmese python and giant tortoises. Everyone gets to interact with the animals for an experience unlike anything you’d receive at your local zoo. We take pride in providing memorable encounters with our extensive collection cold blooded ambassadors.
Mission:
Our mission is to promote conservation through presentation. We believe in “hands-on so the species lives on”. If someone can interact with an animal, they are more likely to want to save it.
Our presentations are interactive, entertaining and create an impactful educational experience. We are fully insured and pride ourselves on the safety and handling of our animals.
Crosstown Exotics has performed for communions celebrations, scouting events, birthday parties, block parties, conventions, festivals and holiday parties. Crosstown Exotics has also preformed for school assemblies, park districts and libraries all over the Chicagoland area.

Scouts Trash the Trash Day is an international Messengers of Peace project for Scouts around the world, where each Scout is challenged to bring a friend or family member along and pick up at least one Kilo (2.2 pounds) of trash each on the first Saturday in May.
The idea for Scouts Trash the Trash Day came from the scouts of Troop 1206 in Helena, Montana after realizing that there are several days throughout the year that Scouts get together and do the same thing on the same day. Days like Jamboree on the Air and Internet, Jamboree on the Trail, Trees for the World, World Neckerchief Day, but there was not a day for Scouts to all get together and clean up their communities. Thus Scouts Trash the Trash Day was started. Scouts are asked to bring a non-scout with them on this day of service in order to double the impact of their trash cleaning effort.
Scouts Trash the Trash Day is about more than just cleaning our planet, it is a day to show the world what Scouting is about, educate individuals about Scouting and recruit new boys, girls and adults into the Scouting movement.
