No matter what age or grade a boy joins Cub Scouting, he must earn his Bobcat badge before he can advance to the rank of Tiger, Wolf, Bear, or Webelos. A boy must complete the Bobcat requirements, which include:
Learn and say the Cub Scout motto, the Scout Oath, and the Scout Law and tell what they mean;
Show the Cub Scout sign, salute, and handshake and tell what they mean; and
With your parent or guardian complete the exercises in the pamphlet How to Protect Your Children from Child Abuse: A Parent's Guide.
Bobcat Day is a fun-filled day for new Scouts. Scouts can earn the Bobcat badge. Additional activities typically include archery, BB guns, games (e.g., field hockey, putt putt golf), crafts (e.g., build a bird house, marshmallow shooters - while supplies last), and more.
Scouts who join Cub Scouts this year before September 30th will receive a rocket that they can design, build, and launch at Bobcat Day. Scouts in first through fifth grade who are interested in joining Scouting may also attend. We will help you find a pack near you and get signed up for Scouting. Rockets are not guaranteed for Scouts who join after September 30th. New Scouts can attend any Rocket Launch Day event in the council that fits their schedule.
Returning Scouts who bring a friend will receive a special prize if their friend signs up for Scouting. Returning Scouts can bring a rocket to launch.
The event is free but pre-registration is required.
