Selling Information

Sun-Sun (Dec. 7-14): Scouts need to sell 10 bags on their own. Bags located in the refrigerator at The Bottle Shop (just ask the friendly staff for help).
Required:
Each Scout must sign up for a minimum of two 2-hour shifts, but more if you can! Please come by and support your Cub Scout friends selling as well on your off time.
Remember that each scout needs a parent with them.
In addition to the 2 shifts per scout, we are asking each scout to sell 10 bags of mistletoe on their own to friends and family.

Suggestions: To sell your 10 bags, try using social media to promote Mistletoe sales, going door-to-door to visit neighbors, or try leaving a basket of Mistletoe at work or another location of your choice with the PayPal / Venmo links (or printouts below) for folks to buy on their own. These links can also be used for direct donations from out of town folks. Share the message widely!
Example selling scripts:
"Hi! Would you like to buy a $5 bag of mistletoe to support Cub Scout Pack 110?"
"Hi! We’re selling mistletoe we picked ourselves at Mt. Wilson. It’s just $5 and helps support our Cub Scout pack!"
"Hi! We’re raising money for Cub Scout Pack 110. Would you like to buy a $5 bag of mistletoe?"
"Hi! We picked this mistletoe ourselves at Mt. Wilson. It’s $5 and helps our Cub Scout pack. Want a bag?"
"Mistletoe for sale! Only $5 to support Cub Scout Pack 110!"
"Freshly picked mistletoe for sale! Only $5! We harvested and bagged it ourselves at Mt. Wilson!"
Reminders For Selling Stations:
Scouts in Uniform
Arrive 5-10 Minutes Early - This ensures some overlap to get more inventory and receive instructions.
Record Sales - Use provided record-keeping sheets to tally sales and donations during your shift. This helps us estimate total sales throughout the weekend, and plan for the following year.
Wagons - Please bring a wagon if you can, so your scouts can roll around town to sell mistletoe to and from our sale locations.
Decorations - We have themed booths at each location, but feel free to bring something to enhance your time there (battery powered lights, etc).
Music - Don't forget to bring your bluetooth speaker to play holiday music during sales.
Enjoy - Childhood goes fast! Enjoy your kids and Have Fun!

Harvesting and Bagging
When: Sunday, December 7, 2025 from 9am-1pm
Where: Mt. Wilson Observatory. Park at the parking NE of Cosmic Cafe (see map below)
Note: It's a long, windy road up to Mt. Wilson and some people have gotten carsick in the past. Be prepared if you or your Scout(s) are prone to motion sickness. It's about an hour's drive from Sierra Madre.
RSVP: Sign-Up Genius
What to bring:
Sack lunch, water, snacks
Gloves
Pruning shears
Staplers and staples
Scissors
Cold weather outerwear and footwear (you may get wet from snow*, so plan accordingly); layers work best. No uniforms required, but Scouts can wear their pack shirt and Scout hat if they'd like.
"Cub Scout Six Essentials" (first aid kit, water, flashlight, trail food, sun protection, whistle)
Backpack or wagon for transporting personal items to/from the parking lot to the harvesting location (about a 10 minute walk)
A box or large bag to take home the mistletoe you’ll be selling on your own (at least 10 bags per scout). If you bring a box, we could also use it to help store our inventory for selling next weekend.
Tire chains*, or carpool (given the current forecast, it is unlikely you'll need these)
Bigger items used for harvesting the mistletoe (loppers, pole saws, ladders, tables, etc) are already accounted for.
The plan is to do the harvesting and bagging in this one event. Monday's meeting time would be a backup for packing.
*Snow is not currently in the forecast, but the environment could still be wet from dew, etc.
Start getting the word out to create some buzz about our fundraiser!
We will be selling around Sierra Madre Dec. 12-14.
