The goal of the Cub Scout program is to provide ready-made opportunities for families to enjoy fun activities together. Parents and legal guardians of Cub Scouts work together to run the Cub Scout program. A parent or guardian must be present at all events in addition to attending occasional parent and committee meetings. Not only will this assist in making events run more smoothly, you and your child will form stronger bonds while learning together.
Complete the following to start your Pack 976 journey:
National Dues are set by the national leadership and are paid directly to Scouting America during online registration. Pack dues are generally divided into fall and spring payments and help cover the cost of supplies, campouts and other den/pack activities.
Scouts are encouraged to "earn their own way" to help teach them about working and money. Our pack's main fundraiser, the Scouting America popcorn sale, runs August through October. Participating scouts can earn enough to cover dues, uniforms, and camps by selling at storefronts and to family and friends. The vast majority of our scouts cover their dues during this fundraiser.
Uniforms are required at all Pack 976 events to encourage a sense of belonging and for easy identification.

Cub Scouting is fun for the whole family. Getting everyone involved makes the experience more meaningful for your Cub Scout. There is a place for every parent, legal guardian, or other caring adults who want to help. Often the challenge is not knowing how to help.
Reach out to your den leader or other pack leader and let them know what your strengths are and what you enjoy doing. Each parent/guardian must be an active participant in den activities.
Review your child's rank requirements and pick an adventure to lead. Work with your den leader to discuss supplies and scheduling.
Share suggestions for activities or opportunities for improvement that might make the program better both at den and pack levels.
Consider volunteering to be a Den Leader or Committee Member - no scouting experience required. Training and guidance will be provided.
If a Den Leader is having difficulties in advancing the program, any in the den can contact the Cubmaster who will work with the pack leadership to assist the den and leader.
There is a lot of planning and organizing that goes on behind the scenes to ensure successful events. We can always use help with researching, calling, scouting locations, setup, takedown, etc.
The quality of your child's experience is dependent upon your involvement along with other parents. The more you put in, the more you will get out - and the more fun we can have!
