For the safety of our scouts and families, scouting activities follow the Guide to Safe Scouting, which is an overview of Scouting policies and procedures gleaned from a variety of sources.
Our pack hosts family campouts (siblings invited) once or twice a year, typically in the fall and spring. Past locations have included Lake Bryan and state parks. Each family is responsible for providing their own tent and sleeping gear. The pack provides meals and activities and many dens complete outdoor rank requirements such as hikes.

Tips and Tricks
You don't have to spend a fortune on camping gear if you don't already own some. You can rent equipment from A&M Outdoor Adventures or borrow from friends, family, other scouting families or local troops. If you are new to camping, you may want to try a few options before buying or find some cheaper used items on Craigslist or other marketplace sites. Leaders and other families will likely have plenty of recommendations too.
A 2-person tent is really a 1-person tent. Don't forget that you will need room for your stuff in addition to sleeping space. You can also pack in plastic totes to store outside the tent if you won't have enough room.
Know how to set up your tent before arriving at the campsite. We often hold tent pitching practice at the park before our fall campout so families can practice setting up their tent, inspect it for any damage or broken parts, and ensure they have all the equipment they need, such as tarps or stakes.
Make sure to place a tarp with a smaller footprint than your tent (or folded to be smaller) to protect the bottom of your tent from uneven ground, provide some insulation and moisture barrier. If your tarp extends beyond the edges of your tent and it rains, the rain can pool underneath your tent which can make for a soggy awakening.
Generally you will be able to park your car either at or within walking distance of your campsite. You can unload your gear at the site and then park away from the site so if you aren't sure if you might need something and have room, go ahead and bring it. You can always leave it in your car.
Make sure to dry out your tarp, tent and other equipment upon returning home to prevent mildew.
The pack provides an Official Pinewood Derby Car Kit, usually at the end of December and our Pinewood Derby is held near the end of January to give our cubs plenty of time to dream, design and build their racer. Pack 976 Pinewood Derby Rules
There are tons of videos and websites online dedicated to designing and building your winning ride.
Generally held at the end of February, the Blue and Gold Banquet is the birthday party for BSA! In addition to birthday celebrations, we often hold the bridging ceremony for our Arrow of Light cubs who have completed their rank and are ready to bridge (graduate) into a Scouts BSA troop.
In this race, scouts build their boats out of any materials they have access to. If it is a Recycled Regatta, scouts are encouraged to use empty water bottles, juice boxes or other repurposed materials in building their watercraft.
For the Raingutter Regatta, boats are scout powered by blowing at their boat through a straw down a lane.
Rocket Day is an annual district-wide event held around the beginning of October. Newly registered scouts are provided a rocket kit to assemble either at sign-up nights or at the event itself. Returning scouts can participate by bringing their rocket from a previous Rocket Day or purchasing a similar model at a local craft store, scout shop or online. Type A engines are provided at the event.
