Spring Campout 2024
Itinerary
Friday (arrival) - arrive when you can on Friday evening at campsite 9.
Saturday - Fishing Derby (Bring your fishing gear, worms to be provided)
Morning. Breakfast and cleanup. Fishing skills: learn about different types of fish, fishing regulations, and skills practice (tying a hook, pole assembly and casting)
Afternoon. Lunch. Make your own fishing pole challenge.
Evening. Free time, fishing derby.
Sunday
8:00 - Breakfast, cleanup and pickup.
9:30 - Head home.
What About Food?
Food will be provided by the Pack. If you have a food allergy, restriction or a really picky eater, please reach out to the Cubmaster. We will figure out an alternative.
Current Meal Plan
Breakfast: pancakes, bacon/sausage, fruit, milk/OJ
Lunch: sandwiches, chips and snacks.
Dinner: Hot dog bar! Hot dogs, Italians, Brats. Fixings and sides. Salad. Smores.
What About Gear?
Families will be responsible for bringing standard gear items. A general list can be found here: New Parent Orientation
NOTE: All scouts must bring a water bottle that will be used throughout the weekend. It is also highly recommended that you bring camp chairs.
Fishing Derby. Given we are holding a fishing derby, scout will need to bring their fishing pole(s) and tackle. Worms will be provided/available for scouts. Leaders will typically bring a couple of extra poles for use, available on a first come basis.
Driving Directions
Directions to the main parking lot.
Start: Spencer County High School - 520 Taylorsville Rd, Taylorsville, KY 40071
Continue to Taylorsville Rd south towards the court house. (0.1 mi)
Turn Right on to Main St. KY-44. Continue onto KY-44 W/Mt Washington Rd. Follow KY-44 W to I-65 S. (26.4 mi)
Turn left to merge onto I-65 S toward Nashville. Take exit 112 toward KY-245 S/Clermont Rd. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Clermont/Bardstown and merge onto KY-245 S/Clermont Rd (4.5 mi)
Turn right onto Plenmar Dr (0.8 mi)
Turn left onto Terry Dr. (1.1 mi)
Continue onto Mago Ln. Destination (main parking lot) will be straight ahead. (1.7 mi)
Directions to the campsite (Campsite #9).
If you are starting from the main parking lot, turn around. Turn right at the first intersection on the gravel road. You will continue to go downhill, followed by a curve right.
Follow the gravel road, always sticking to the left until you reach camp site 9.
