Dashboard Instructions

1. Use the mouse roller to zoom in and out on the map.
2. Click the right and left arrows (‘next page’ and 'previous page' buttons) in the ‘Year’ section (or use the drop-down menu) to select between the Year 2010, 2015 and 2020. After selecting the specific year, the country colour will change, representing the change in relative frequencies of the country’s mentions in Australian newspapers (from red to blue). Move your cursor to a country to see details.
3. You can animate the process by clicking the ‘play reverse – stop – play forward’ button above the ‘show history’ box.
4. The topics mentioned covering pacific states are shown in a donut chart. When selecting a different year, the donut chart will change automatically to show the distribution of topics in the given year. Click a country on the map to see how the topics were distributed when the country was mentioned. You can also click on the donut chart to see which countries were covered by a specific topic.
5. Refresh the website if the dashboard stops working.
6. If you want to find out how one country was talked about between 2010, 2015, and 2020, you can do so by selecting a country from the drop-down menu in the ‘Country’ section, then selecting a specific year to see the change of topics.
