Dear Church Family,
The following is a summary of the important highlights of our June and July Board meetings.
- As has been announced, we deliberated in June calling Pastor Liam (along with Rhiannon) to minister in our church. We felt the choice was clear after his candidating weekend and we are expecting the Cowman’s to be moving to Prince Albert in August with Pastor Liam’s start date Aug 26. Please see prayer requests for an update on what to pray regarding this move.
- As announced in June, we are needing to replace our boiler (over 50 years old) in the church and will decide on the final replacement price in August once we receive all the quotes. We know the price will be substantial and there has been a line started in the giving section for our congregants to designate funds for this operational cost.
- The Wally Hlewka Scholarship of $500 and the Leadership Scholarship of $750 have been awarded to worthy young people in our church: Piper Dahlsjo who will be attending Miller Bible College in Fall and Rebecca Grimwood who is continuing her course of study through Briercrest in Christian Counselling.
- We have revised our Prayer Chain policy to reflect our updated policies for volunteers. If you are a prayer chain volunteer, a volunteer application will be requested.
- We continue to discuss our strategic plan and how we can incorporate in our fall planning:
1. How can we equip our congregants to start spiritual conversations? We are hoping to use our present ministries as vehicles for thoughtful presentations and discussions.
2. How do we continue to bring prayer to the forefront of our Sunday School classes, church services and ministries throughout our church? We know it is through prayer that God’s church goes forward.
3. We are looking at bringing in an outside speaker to specifically look at evangelism. We trust this will encourage and embolden us in sharing our faith.
- We have set a challenge for the Elder’s board to be more intentional in evangelism, to be reading/listening to podcasts etc. on practical evangelism tools and practicing evangelism in our daily lives. We will set time aside in our monthly meetings to share what God is doing in our lives and teaching us.
In His Service,
Sharon Ardell, Board Chair
Prayer Praise and Requests:
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24
Fall start up – one more month! - for hearts to be willing and ready to serve, for fresh starts and a welcoming by old comers to newcomers.
Praise for VBS – a great week of learning God’s mystery in how we grow, care, share and love through the gospel; a great week of fun!; a great week of learning new crafts and playing games; a great week of enjoying new and old friendships; a great week of volunteerism – Praise for all the young people (18) who took part in leadership alongside the adult volunteers.
For Pastor Liam and family: 1. That their house would sell in Vermillion. 2. For Pastor Liam as he speaks at Dallas Valley ranch Camp July 27 – Aug 2. 3. As they pack up, say their goodbyes and move to PA – they are hoping to be moved in by Aug 16. 4. As the family transitions here and Pastor Liam starts work on Aug 26.
Please pray for your tithes and offering allocations. We want to make sure we support our local church well and the mission endeavors of our denomination as they reach beyond our own city and country borders.
Please pray for those who are sick among us, those who are grieving the loss of loved ones, of health or relationships or dreams. Let us pray for God’s strength/comfort to lead through the valleys and difficulties that are faced and praise Him for His provision.
Please pray for those God brings to mind as we continue to enjoy the last month of summer vacations, relaxation and renewal.
“The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and Give you peace.”
