In the event a bus does not show or their route has temporaly been cancled, families may be elidgebale for these options:
A student qualifies if they are mandated for transportation based on IEP, 504 or impartial hearing order and has busing service
Note: DOE cannot reimburse tips or student no-show.

RideShare
Some families may qualify for RideShare in the event their are repeat issues with their child's route and OPT determines they qualify. To see if your child qualifies, please reach out to your school site and we will contact OPT to generate a code.
Important things about RideShare:
If your child has a 1:1 Bus Para- they do not qualify
A family member must ride with the child for both AM drop off and PM Pickup
In the AM, the child will be dropped off at school and the family member will be taken home or to their work location.
In the PM, the family member must be at the school by end-of-day to ride back with their child to home only. Please note, that family member will not be picked up at the work location they were dropped off at the AM.
At this time OPT does not offer RideShare for the following:
the assigned STP is out for the day
the student misses the bus
the student has an appointment and will be late to school
the student needs to be picked up early
To access your child's bussing information, know your rights, to file a OPT Alternate Drop Off Request or a complaint ticket, see the quick links below.
*When filing a ticket with OPT for anything, remember to save the ticket number! It begints 'RTIM.....' OPT does not notify the school when a ticket is made for Alt. Drop Off or a complaint. It greatly helps us when you have those for us to reference.
